Cars & Coffee 5/22/10

The week of weird - Citroen DS, Renault R5 Turbo, Shelby Series I, 2CV and the like are rare enough, but how about a 300ZX-based Spartan neo-classic? Or a Terramaster? Then there was the Mazdaspeed2 show car, a 930 RSR project, a wickedly short Bus, a pair of very professional rat rods, a peace quilt Beetle, rock-crawlin' Jeep, C43 pace car, three 500E supersedans, Esprits, plus plenty of Vettes, Porsches and Ferraris. Heck there were three Daytonas, one of them a spider!

And how about that Racing Beat "California Roadster," the 2/88 C&D cover car, it was a custom convertible before Mazda introduced the RX-7 cab in 1988. It was built and daily driven by Jim Mederer, founder of Racing Beat, and featured Bonneville LSR wheels to commemorate the RX-7's salt run records from that era. Rare bird indeed.
