Just like last year's event, the 6th Annual Weaver Elementary Summer Jam was blessed with perfect weather and a great turnout. Thousands of people turned out to support this incredible Orange County school in its annual close-of-session celebration. Students and family members were once again treated to a free concert and car show, as well as a whole row of food and fun booths.
As we told you last year, there aren't many schools that would draw this large of a crowd, but Weaver's unique position as a choice school, it's wonderful Principal Erin Kominsky, and its excellent teaching staff make it one of the most beloved schools in the county.
Besides the Volcano Burgers, Surf Tacos and Valentino's Pizza coach, Jamba Juice and Dippin' Dots, there were plenty of other vendors there, selling their wares and donating proceeds to the school's coffers. Summer Jam attendees were also treated to live music by several groups, including the students themselves in a talent show that added to the overall entertainment and had the crowd dancing into the night.
The car show featured everything from Karlton's 3/4-scale NASCAR stocker to a giant Army transport. An Isetta and a beautiful red '56 Chevy won the trophies this year.
Other highlights included a gorgeous Pantera, a perfectly outrageous T-Bucket hot rod, several Porsches and a gaggle of classic musclecars. About 20 cars altogether.
So great to see a community pour its heart into their local school.
