Ashley and Lauren get their hair braided at a store in Playa del Carmen. Don't get braids at the Bahia, they want $75 USD. In Playa del Carmen ... $25 USD. My daughters got their braids done at a place on 2nd street, where the collectivos drop you off.

... about 15 minutes from Bahia Pricipe, we took a collectivo ( ~ $1.50 each ).

Hire a tour guide. We didn't and wish we had after we went to the Chichén Itzá ruins and hired a tour guide.

The Chichén Itzá ruins were about a 3 hour drive for us via Tulum ( we rented a car ) ... OK I got lost for a bit! Make sure to get a tour guide as they'll tell you many interesting facts.

Make sure you climb the big pyramid ( 91 steps! ) - don't bother with the inner pyramid, it's just a sweathouse in there and not very interesting.
