I have been following the *NLWST Hair Regime since November 6, 2008, and plan to for the rest of 2009. (*Refer to Journals)

October 23, 2008 was the last time I used a comb during my wet hair treatments for the year of 2008.

Use a comb to detangling dry hair on 1/25/2009 (ugh!). Have not use a comb since.

Will not use a comb or any type of styling tools for rest of 2009.

I am also keeping my white hair that is growing and existing around my frontal hairline, and some in the low nape area. My hair is not salt and pepper all over. It is concentrated in the front area, and moving backwards. And the rest of my hair is very very black. I do not have any yellowing problems of my white hair.

And my older vain female and male siblings have not seen my white hair. They have gotten over the nappy part. But the white hair is going to kill them. They have to realize that baby sister do not need their approval anymore. You don't have to take me anywhere, or introduce me to your friends.

I have positive project to accomplish for the rest of my life.

For the next 10 months from August 27, 2008 thru June 30, 2009 - - I am on a Braid/Twist Protective Style Unleashed Afro Challenge with my own hair only. Put in 50 braid/twists. No extension, wigs etc. I will wear my protective styled natural kinks eveywhere I go.. Goals are: to have 5 inches of hair retention; and to have more hair density if possible.

Since embarking upon Fotki sister with loose natural curly/kinky hair on 10/29/2007, I have learned the following: Do not comb dry hair; fingercomb; do not use shampoos and conditions with sls, cones,etc.; co-wash; manipulate hair less; protect ends of hair (keep moisturized); sleep with or on satin.

A couple of these things I was doing before Fotki, but, not consistently, and with very little understanding.

These pictures were taken on 4/19/08. I colored my hair for the first time since April, 2005. This is due to older siblings pressure. My older sister in California said that she was not going to introduce me as her younger sister with all the gray dominating the frontal area of my hairline. For approx 3 years I did not care since she lives in California and I live in Louisiana. Then I find out later, that my other older sister who lives in Illinois, came to visit in Louisiana did not like my grey either. So they had been talking about me behind my back. Now the time has come that I will be staying with my sister in Cali, to attend my first cousin memorial. I fretted and made a last minute decision to color my hair. Did not have time to look for henna/Indigo, and was not too confidence about using it at the last minute.
