Actually, regardless of what AHRA said, Lothar is NOT a "true" roan, the color found in Quarter Horses, etc. He is genetically an extreme rabicano, which is similar but genetically different. Arabians do not exist in "true roan", only in rabicano.
Can you tell me which Egytian mares *Sulejman was bred to and what get resulted? Also what Babson Polish mares were bred to Fadl and who are the get. I find this interesting becuase I have a mare with 4 branches to *Sulejman (Dawn O Day)and Torbuk. Also a Anchor Hill daughter (Anchor Hill Marfu). Do you know why this program was discontinued. And I never knew that *Sulejman was at Babson.
Mah Hab was a well bred and beautiful St. Babson stallion. He had a energetic fluid trot with a beautiful lift to his hocks and forelegs. He was a frequent winner at dressage shows. His wonderful ears had a delicate turn back at the tips that is often seen in newborn foals. As beautiful as his head was, his body was every bit as good. Mah Hab shared his pasture and his stall with an older gelding, eating together from the same hay flake. Mah hab gave "pony rides" to farm visitors. He was very much the gentleman and much loved by his family. I lost my heart to Mah Hab in 1989, the summer day this photo was taken.

I took this photo in the fall of 1988 in New York. He already had some of his winter woolies. Ibn Saafaddan had a long legged eleganct beauty. He was quiet and very much a gentleman. We were fortunate to buy his Babson daughter Almoraima Ceniza a couple years later. For more photos and information on these and related horses visit www.BabsonArabians.com Ibn Saafaddan can be found in our Babson family section.
Fada is the dam of Bint Fada (x Fa-Serr). In turn Bint Fada is the dam of The Shah (x Fabah). The Shah became the 1975 British National Champion and 1978 Champion at Salon Du Cheval in Paris (World Champion stallion!).
Fabo has a page on www.BabsonArabians.com with many photos and information on him. His namesake Ahmed Fabo is our young St babson stallion who earned the United States Equestrian Region 7 Horse of the Year award in Dressage.
"Mahrena" is a Bint Roulett daughter. Bint Roulett is shown on the first page of photo listings. More on both of them as well their foals and parents can be found on www.BabsonArabians.com
Dahma Saafada is a lovely mare. She is the dam of Ahmed Fabo (x Ahmed Fabah), United States Equestrian Region 7 Horse of the Year in Dressage. More on both of them at www.BabsonArabians.com
I have a (5 generations I think that's enough greats) grandson named Serif Sarahco. He is 23 years old and is a wonderful gelding. Anyone can ride him, he will walk in parades, walk w/my 5 year old grandson around the pasture, etc. I would be interested in a rescue horse of the Babson line if you know of any. I just thought I'd let you know. I live in Missoula, MT and have 3 acres and a barn. I have returned to horses after taking a 34 year break of having a faminly in town. Ah it's so natural to own horses and so relaxing. I love my horses. I have Sarahco and a 14 year old Polish Arabian named Sheba who is supposed to be bred to DG Mones Vision. She is due next May. So I do have room for another if the need arises. Thanks Lisa Arends
She is a beautiful mare. I have her 5 greats grandson Serif Sarahco. He is registered at AHA and I am in the process of getting his registry updated to reflect my name. He is 23 years old and a perfect gentleman. Anybody can ride him. He still struts his stuff around the pasture just for the heck of it. Who has the Babson lineage now? I have looked on the web and cannot track much of it at all. Thanks Lisa
I believe these photos and articles are from the old magazine Arabian Horse Journal which is no longer printed. I have old issues (somewhere in a box in a closet) and that was a magazine I subscribed to many years ago, probably in the 1960's.
we also have a double fabo black al khamsa blue list grandson. He looks so much like Fabo, and is the most look alike son of his sire, Arabi Fadh Onyx. You can read and see more about him here: (we are standing him) http://www.geocities.com/rbcavalierstallion
Lothar was a registered ROAN stallion. Walter Schimanski of Masada Arabians told me in person that he helped the American Arabian Horse Registry of America, Inc. (AHRA) write the definition for the ROAN coloration standard. Lothar CAN be perceived as a "rabicano" to some, but is a registered roan where the "roaning" starts at the throatlatch and continues through the entire coat except for all 4 lower legs and head. Rabicano markings may be restricted to certain areas of the body where roan pattern is observed. L Detweiler 12/03
