I am finally getting my first horse and he is the horse I also dreamed of since I was a little girl. He will be 2 years old in June. His name is Tango at Midnight, and he is the great grandson of El Mokhtar. He has a white star and three white stockings and of course he is black. He is already very handsome and very proud of himself. He will be coming to live with me in November and I can't wait.
El Mokhtar was a beautiful horse and he passed on these genes.

I'm new to the horse world, but, when I was a little girl, I read, The Black Stallion, when I was just a kid, and my world changed forever, I never fogot that book, I grew up loving horses, I read all the books, vowed some day, I would also have a horse like The Black, here I am, 43 years old, Divorced, and on a mission to make all my dreams come true, so I acquired(you never own an animal) a beautiful mare, and her colt, I waited my entire life to fulfill this dream, The mare is Tahr Mara Night, a wonderful mare and her colt, the colt I named, Star Rae Night, he definitly has an attitude, what a dream come true, does it get any better than this? They are both decendents of El Mokhtar,the stallion in, The Black Stallion Returns, my dream fullfilled. They are beautiful to watch, I live on a small farm in North Dakota, they have lots of room to run, and I look forward to watching Star Rae Night grow, and it brings back lots of memories, a little girl never grows up! Life is good!

I did a search on *El Mokhtar on yahoo and the Shenandoah Arabian site had quite a bit of info on his history. I can e-mail the info they had if anyone wants it. We just finally were able to send in papers on our decendent of *El Mokhtar--a beautiful black stud. I'd love to see anyone els'e pics of their decendents if you have any!!

I have found info on *El Mokhtar that he was the horse Walter Farley wanted for The Black Stallion, but the horse's syndicate declined. He was in the second movie though. There were 3 horses used in the 2nd movie, he was used in the desert race. He was also schooled for the courting of the gray mare in the desert but died before filming of that scene. I did my search on Yahoo for *El Mokhtar.....don't forget the * !!!!

THANK YOU.I have been searching for a picture of El Moktar for quite somteime. I was told he was used in the racing scene in the movie "The Black Stallion Returns". Do you have any other ifnofrmation on his background? I recently bought a stallion, "Conteztar" who is the grand son of "El Mohktar". I am a new owner and very excited about the arabians and their history.I look forward in hearing from you.
