Wow what a conversation..... All of you have made good points on this page. And both sides of this story are right. It is unheard of to have a "painted" arabian in ancient text. The people of the desert who originally bred these horses would simply not put up with that genetic deformity. It was most commonly seen in inbred or overbred horses. These foals were immediately put to death by the tribes people. Any breed of horse can have mutations. There are resesive genes that sometimes rise up in even the purest of bloods. These genes can cause some mutation in coloration. So yes a purebred can have unusual coloration but only because of a mutated gene. And no mutated does not mean a bad thing to all of you idiots out there. It simply means different! Thoroughbreds, Arabians, Quater horses, ect..... can all have this. Liv was right in saying that a "purebred" cannot have this coloration because in some organizations they will not tolerate it. You other guys were also right in saying that it was possible. So lets just stop this stupid argument and talk about something sinsible or at least something worth arguing about. I mean its one thing to post a question, its another to argue back and forth trying to force the other person to believe your opinion. If anyone else has any questions please leave a comment on this board and I will give you my email if its that important to prove me wrong. -Thanks

I'm truly amazed by this conversation. Yes, I bred Part Arabian Pintos and I'm very facinated by the sabino spotting pattern, which does not just show up in Arabians, but in crop out Quarter Horses, Thoughbreds, Saddlebreds, Clydesdales and many other breeds as well. The pattern is not easily bred and pops up in what seems to be out of no where and sometimes it's traceable. I agree there are some Arabians that have untraceable pedigrees, as well as Morgan, Quarter Horses, Paints, Thoughbreds and many others if you go back far enough. However, records show that many desert bred Arabians, including the Davenport import (which were purchased from the desert of Syria) horses had extensive white. I also want to add that Arabians do not carry the leathal white "overo" gene. This gene is not the same as the framed overo pattern you see in Paints. I recommend doing research before you state "fact". Alot of research shows interesting information like the foundation Morgan stallion, Figure pedigree being an inbred Arabian. That a Foundation Quarter Horse line actually contains Arabian blood. That a Thoughbred was an orginal cross of Arabians with English bred mares/stallion to produce a taller animal. This stallion is beautiful, amazing and from a champion pedigree.

    ROSSLETTA

Rossletta was actually registered as AHR 6925, but "Sold without papers" by her breeder, Cal Poly/Kellogg.

I have several issues of the Arabian Horse News (which was founded by Anna Best Joder in 1948) with advertisements featuring photos of Rossletta, however they are not very good ones - mostly in riding groups with other horses. I understand she was a favorite riding horse of the Joder's and also had several foals, although they would not have been registered.

    RG JOSHUA

I don't know who put this picture of RG Joshua up,
but I miss him so. I would ride him bareback in the
field as a young girl with no bridle, halter or even
lead rope around his neck. He was my dear friend and
taught me what a great horse was.

To those who don't like the sabino colouring on purebreds. It's there, it's always been there and it always will be. As someone said, Muscat, Khemosabi and Aurab were all sabinos. Mesaoud, who was bought by lady Anne Blunt, was a sabino. And you won't even believe how many sabinos there are among the greys. Just because they've greyed out, you can't see that they really are sabinos. Sabinos come in all variations from minimum (the horses mentioned) to maximum, where the horse is born looking almost completely white.
Not all sabinos may be registered as pintos, but a lot of them can.
Other horses that qualify as sabino are: Ali Jamaal, Kubinec, Imperial Baarez, Gelgelah Al Badeia (World champion mare 2003), Odessa (dam of Padron), a lot of Padron bred horses (especially Padrons Psyche bred or linebred Padron) and a lot of Khemosabi get.

RAMSES 1977 grey stallion (Fikri x Nora, by Ibn Fakhri)

May be a bit too late, but this is not CA Ramses Kaseed that Chandler is looking for.
This horse was just named Ramses (he died a couple of years ago). He was by Fikri (Fayek {Ramses Fayek} * Nadeema) out of Nora (Ibn Fahkri * Anwaar). He was born in Holland in 1977 and imported to Sweden in 78 (I think).
