one of largest early winter snows in recorded weather history. It was the largest snow at Hannibal in decades. In 1980 Hannibal had one pick-up truck with a blade, but now the fleet consists of up to 18 bladed vehicles. However, note the snow removal on Section St. is the height of the undercarriage of the four-wheel vehicles moving down the street! I shoveled multiple times during the night, but gave up and will try the Hannibal way; 'let-rr-melt.'

Early Winter 2006 Riverview Park Walks Hannibal Missouri

Riverview Park area a few days after the 12-14in snow on Dec 1, 2006. One of the deepest snows remembered in the area and certainly the earliest.

all of the foundations of early homes, buildings, bridges, retaining walls, etc. Initially they were worked with pry bars, hammers and hand drills, ropes and wooden levers. Oxen and wooden skids supplied the power and moved the stones. There are still a few limestone block foundations from this quarry close-by. One of which is an abandoned pioneer farmstead in the next valley to the east, near the railroad tunnel western opening. iowaz@swbell.net

Storm clouds, cumulus mammalous, precursors to tornado like storms, produce high winds and hail. This storm produced severe damage in areas close to Hannibal, April of 2006.
