Babylon 5
My definition of scratchbuilt is that no more than, say 10% of the model was constructed using existing model kits. I scracthbuild using plain sheet of styrene plastic.

strider

from the creator:
That would be great, thanks. It’s too bad non-registered users can’t see the images. We refer to StarshipModeler for reference quite a bit here. When I built the Phobos (the ship in the background) I relied heavily on Enterprise, Reliant, and Excelsior images from SSM.

Hehe, may as well leave the credit as Kevin Riley since it’s my real name, except for the Lieutenant part.

Some quick background on the ship: It’s an extensive redesign of a Ranger Class Scout from the old FASA Star Trek RPG back in the ‘80s. This one is the U.S.S. Strider from the adventure pack “The Strider Incident” (look closely at the kit box). It’s still under construction and there is a WIP thread in 3D Art WIPs.

The background ship is similarly a heavy redesign of the Loknar Class Frigate, the U.S.S. Phobos.

I looked in on some of your models, nice work in there. I really like the Eagle. I’ve long held that as the best sci-fi ship design ever. It’s kind of a tie now with the B5 Star Fury

blister tank

when casting you sometimes have left over resin. i save weird shaped blister packs and pour the resin into them. many times, if you lubricated the bliter pack well, you can use them over and over. it is just like filling a vacuform kit and getting a resin version in its place. the base is also a blister pack

man from earth

Buy this movie it is great. No ray guns or starships, just a well told story that makes you think outside the box. Great cast. Great story. Great music.
