State of Idaho

Idaho had been a "pass-through-and-only-stop-for-necessities-on-my-way-to-somewhere-else" state. I was always in so much of a hurry to get to Montana and places east or Utah and places south that I never really considered Idaho as a place to visit in itself. That all changed when I traveled specifically to southern Idaho to see what it had to offer. I was impressed with this sometimes wild and sometimes agricultural countryside. It now has its rightful respect in my mind as a destination to visit.

07/25/2001 Albion, City of Rocks National Natural & Historical Landmark and Oakley, Idaho
Jul 25, 2001

This area is one I had noticed on the map when I was visiting southern Idaho. I drove in from the Albion side and exited through Oakley. The road left something to be desired but the scenery was beautiful and it was a nice day for a drive. This album has been completed and no more photos will be added.

07/26/2001 State Capitol Building and Grounds, Boise, Idaho
Jul 26, 2001

Idaho had been a "pass-through-and-only-stop-for-necessities-on-my-way-to-somewhere-else" state. I was always in a hurry to get to Montana and places east or Utah and places south that I never really considered Idaho as a place to visit in itself. That all changed when I traveled specifically to southern Idaho to see what it had to offer. I was impressed with this sometimes wild and sometimes agricultural countryside. It now has its rightful respect in my mind as a destination in itself to visit. I have always enjoyed visiting and photographing capitol buildings and their grounds. This turned out to be one of the most beautiful ones that I have seen. I took many more pictures than I had intended and at one point had to return to my car for more memory. I encourage you to visit and stay in the Boise area to take advantage of its many amenities. All photos in this album were taken with a Sony Mavica 85 (1.3MP). This album has been completed and no more photos will be added.

07/19/2006 Glenn's Ferry, Idaho
Jul 19, 2006

Glenn's Ferry, Idaho is the half-way point (555 miles) on our trip from Hurricane, Utah to Longview, Washington (1,110 miles total). We would normally stop at Burley or Twin Falls, Idaho but that makes for a longer second day of driving. On a whim, we stopped for the night here at the half-way point. This will probably be our one and only stay at Glenn's Ferry. It's a nice small community but it lacks most of the amenities we travelers have come to expect. This album has been completed and no more photos will be added.

08/31/2006 University of Idaho, Moscow, Idaho
Aug 31, 2006

This is a town much like Pullman, Washington, both being dominated by their universities. Moscow has the University of Idaho. I spent a few hours viewing the campus and I took some photos that show only a small but beautiful part of it. By the way, I was told long ago that it is pronounced "Mos-ko" not the Russian "Mos-cow". This album has been completed and no more photos will be added.
