11/18/2006 Southern Utah University, Cedar City, Utah!

Southern Utah University occupies a fairly large campus that seems to be well-endowed considering it is located in this smaller southern Utah Community. It is beautiful and looks like a progressive institution of higher learning. Given a deadline for the completion of the first university buildings (house it or lose it), Cedar City residents fought through heavy winter storms to make and haul lumber down from the mountains through deep snow for construction. This accomplishment is memorialized with the bronze sculpture by Jerry Anderson. I have taken a number of photos of it from different angles. This album has been completed and no more photos will be added.

"Old Sorrel" Sculpture by Jerry Anderson on the Southern Utah University Campus, Cedar City, Utah

November 18, 2006 This tremendous metal sculpture commemorates the manufacture and transporting of lumber in the winter through deep snow drifts from the mountains nearby so that the necessary buildings for the University could be built by an unreasonable deadline imposed by the State of Utah. The locals were able to meet that deadline and Cedar City got its university.
