08/27/2009 Monticello Convention Memorial, Longview, Washington
The Monticello Convention literally shaped much of the Northwest. Oregon Territory, when originally delineated, included all of Oregon and Washington and parts of Idaho and Montana. These areas had enough differences to want their own governments so it was decided to first separate Oregon from Washington and then the other changes were made later. The convention took place near the city of Longview, Washington founded some 70 years later. All that remains as a marker of the original site is a black walnut tree and a sign. This album has been completed and no more photos will be added.
