Slammers' Modeling Spaces, Collections, and other special "Stuff"

In this folder you will find special albums dedicated to and showcasing individual KC Slammer member's modeling workspaces and other pictures of interest they would like to share.

Ellis K.

Here's my modeling space in my home. After 3 years of working on my models in an 8x8 workshed out back of my house, we were finally able to use a spare bedroom to set up a great modeling space and hangout for all my stuff. It's kinda like being 15 years old all over again.
My personal modeling interests are in the area of customs and showcars although you'll see a healthy helping of Batman and sci fi models as well.
Now, I just have to get them all built before I die!

Vic A.

Our club spotlight focuses on longtime KC Slammer member, Vic A. Vic was a KC Slammer from 1993 until 2005. He was always an active member of the club stepping up to the plate to serve on many committees and assist with the annual Heartland Model Car Nationals sponsored each year by the Slammers.
Throughout the years, Vic built many a top-notch quality model and has a special interest in race cars as well as models of many other subjects. This feature is about a very special project dear to his heart that took four years to complete between the years of 1995-1999. The 1/25th scale diorama now resides in the Bill Smith Collection at the Museum of American Speed in Lincoln. Nebraska. In addition, it has won numerous model car competitions most notably the National Championship at the Heartland Model Car Nationals in 1999.
Thanks, Vic, for a great modeling effort and sharing it with us here for everyone to enjoy!

In explanation, the white dryer vent hose coming from the switched bathroom fan atop the homemade (chopped and channeled bookcase) lighted paint booth is connected to a white board with a hole in it. The board fits snugly in the open window when I paint to vent fumes to the outside. The red air tank under the desk feeds the regulated Badger 150 airbrush via the yellow coiled air line on the right. There are 2 Dremel tools hooked up to the speed regulator; one of them is on a mini drill press / router setup. The "Magnalight" 10X magnifier is indispensable to geezer modelers like me...but I still have to use my reading glasses with it. The desk lamp provides extra light...the more light on the subject the better. The hot knife and soldering tools and a small bench vise are on the left side. Power cords for everything are plugged into fused multi-outlet strips. Laying flat on the workspace is pad of white paper. When it gets messy I tear off the top sheet and have an instantly clean workspace. The desk itself is full of supplies and tools in every drawer; organized...but overflowing. This workbench has some bells & whistles...but they don't do no good unless there's a model being built with it. Sorry to say there are cobwebs accumulating on this one for the time being.

Jerry M.
Jul 1, 2008

Jerry is a veteran KC Slammer and is always ready to step up to the plate to help the club be successful. In addition to all the other things he does for the club and his fellow Slammers, he has served as a chairman for the club's annual contest - The Heartland Model Car Nationals held in June of each year. He's an active modeler and, from the looks of these pictures has a great space to do his work in. Thanks for sharing the pictures, Jerry!
