Two ex Gateshead Tramways Leyland bodied Titan PD 2s probably an ex SMT AEC Alexander bodied touring coach on the left and possibly an Alexander lowbridge body on a Leyland ex Western SMT. What a shame this photo is not in colour.

The correct title of these two Leylands former owner is Gateshead & District Tramways later known as Gateshead & District. On the left Fleet No 71 probably still in the brown cream livery and No 62 looks to be in the later green and ivory livery of G & D. The LVA reg bus is an ex Baxters of Airdrie Massey lowbridge bodied Leyland.

I agree that No 71 appears to still be in the Gateshead livery of Chocolate Brown and Cream, however, No62 must be in Greyhound livery as none of Gatesheads PD2s received the green livery introduced on the 1964 batch of Atlanteans and subsequently cascaded to the rest of the fleet.  The oldest vehicles to receive Green were the 1958 PD3 / MCWs 75-79:HCN475-9.

I lived in Dundee in the 60s and photographed both buses on service in Arbroath. Neither are ina Gateshead livery (and the PD2s were never in Gateshead green, only dark maroon). both were repainted in red & cream by Greyhound in different styles. I knew the Dundee depot of Greyhound but never visited the Arbroath one.
