I transitioned from October 2006 to February 2009. (2 years and 3 1/2 months) I decided to post some pics that were taken later on in my transition. I was transitioning for at least a year and a half on these pics. A lot of people ask me how I transitioned for so long...I usually say that I knew how long I wanted my hair to be before I chopped it so I was determined to wait until I achieved my goal. At times it can be daunting, but when you find a style that works for you and an easy routine to maintain you'll be able to stick it out. Tips for Transitioning: -Take care of your hair like it was already completely natural. -Deep condition you hair weekly. -When you have about 35%-40% new growth, you really shouldn't comb it while it is dry. Only comb you hair when it is wet. -Curls (roller sets), braidouts, braids (corn rows or kinky twists) are good transition styles. -Clip your ends every month or two to gradually get rid of your processed ends. -Oil you scalp every few days. -Keep your hair moisturized by using a good leave-in conditioner that is water based or a water and vegetable glycerin mix. -And be patient. I know it may not seem like it but your hair is constantly growing.
