At the police station Alexis arrives to do some routine legal work when she sees the headline about Jax's plane. Upset she struggles not to cry, but Mac gently leads her into the interrogation room. He reminds her that they are friends and if she needs to take a moment, then take it! Mac explains Jax's body hasn't been found, but other evidence suggests the plane was tampered with. Talk turns to their children and the hopes that they will turn out okay. Grateful Alexis leans on Mac, who pours them some of his super special blend from his thermos. (Cute!) Later their moment is broken when a cop interrupts with Alexis' paperwork and a request from the mayor for Mac.
At the hospital Patrick tells Sam that they are doing everything they can to discover the cause of Jason's seizures. Sam is grateful, but turns livid when she finds Jason conducting business with Max in his hospital room! She throws Max out and asks for a moment alone with Jason. She asks him to put getting better first, business second. Meanwhile Robin studies Jason's pathology report and makes a big discovery. She asks Monica and Patrick to join her and Sam in Jason's room where she announces that she found a very small, microscopic particle lodged in Jason's brain. She suspects it is a leftover from Jason's accident with AJ and the recent accident moved it, hence the seizures. Jason assumes this means a simple operation, but Patrick warns it's a little more complicated than that. Later Sam and Jason discuss the pros and cons of surgery. Jason says he wants to be Sam's husband for as long as he can. Sam wipes the tears from her eyes. Does that mean Jason wants the surgery or not?
Matt is riding high from a successful surgery when he learns that Siobhan has died. Crushed Matt listens as Elizabeth explains what happened. Steve approaches and asks for the nurses' log from the last three days. There are some meds missing! Panicked Elizabeth tries to cover, but Matt reveals that he knows some ipecac was taken in addition to hydrocodone. The former is used to treat overdoses. Elizabeth crumbles and tells Matt that she took the drugs to help Lucky. Later when it is discovered that the meds were stolen during Elizabeth's shift, Elizabeth almost hyperventilates, but Matt has a plan.
Lucky listens to his last voicemail message to Siobhan. He pops another pill as Ethan arrives. Ethan listens to Lucky's pity party before he says Lucky can't let pain define who he is. Yes, Lucky got dealt a bad hand, but he needs to stand up and be a father to his children. Lucky explains that is why he took this drug case, but Ethan points out that doesn't mean a damn thing if Lucky isn't there for them. Matt calls and asks Lucky to come to the hospital. Lucky and Ethan arrive at the hospital where Matt shows them Siobhan's pillowcase with the letters "LU" written on it with lipstick. Lucky has no idea what it means, but he is determined to find out. Later Steve checks on Lucky to ask permission to perform an autopsy on Siobhan.
In the alley behind Luzetta's Spinelli climbs into the dumpster to continue his investigation. Max checks on Spinelli, per Jason's orders. As they spy on the bakery, Diane arrives to tell Max that she is going on another book tour. Max wants to know what that means for them as Spinelli rudely says Diane is not that into Max anymore. Diane tells him that he can't come with her on the tour, not with Jason in the hospital, but she can't expect Max to wait for her either. Upset Max leaves as Diane urges him to take care of himself -- and only drink light beer! Anything else makes him bloat. Diane asks Spinelli to distract her, maybe give her some inspiration for another book, but Spinelli merely babbles something nonsensical. As Diane leaves, Spinelli examines two flour bags. He notices the bakery's spelling is off on one of the bags; one has the proper apostrophe, the other a star. Hm…what does that mean?
