Holy .... I haven't updated in eons.

I guess I've just been busy with life and letting my hair be. I've also been trying to ignore (not obsess over) my hair and let it do its own thing.

So whats new? Gosh well as most of you know I did big chop down to an inch of hair back in June 2008. However in Feb 2010 I was completely *over it* and decided to relax my hair. At that point I was a couple inches past underarm length. I cut short short bangs into my hair ala Bettie Page. A cute summer style I figured. All along I was just letting my hair be. I have not relaxed my hair since then.

Dec 2010 took me by surprise when I discovered that my hair had grown to within a couple inches from waist. By Feb 2011 I was within half an inch. However because of my initial bigchop back in 2008 my hair had a huge amount of natural layers. After looking at countless waist length photos I decided that I prefered the soft U shape /blunt cut ends at that length. So in March 2011 I asked hubby to just cut off any major layers he saw. Scared the heck out of me giving my husband free reign over my hair like that, but I knew he wasnt going to leave me bald headed, at least he promised not to lol. 2 inches total were cut off in a soft u shape which I love. It almost looks blunt. and in 4 short months I'll have my length back with blunt ends which will make my hair look longer and thicker.

June 2011 will be 3 yrs since the big chop, and I hope to be closing back in on waist length again. By Dec 2011 I hope to be close to hip length with blunt ends..

in this album: experiment. after cowash, rinsed out all the conditioner (normally i leave some conditioner in my hair for moisture). then finger combed in a curly lotion.

Flatironned today

11 months 1 week to be exact. my one year anniversary is June 22nd. last year I did the big BIG chop due to color damage and I've been patiently waiting on my hair to grow back. I'd say one more year should put me back to my before length, maybe even longer! hehe I cant wait to see.

Anyways. here is my one year update. Sooooo. i flatironed my hair for you guys, it was perfect, every strand was in place, it was nicely curled under,,, then mother nature decided it should rain before i got home. so my hair is a near afro again, lol. But since I dont plan on flatironning for another year, these post humidity, post rain pictures will have to do till then. (at least its still nice and soft)

getting it trimmed up tommorrow and going back curly. Next flatiron? maybe jan or june next year.

well that was fast.....
1 yr complete. going into my second year as a natural... again, hopefully i can make it to the end of year 3 this time around.

i dont know how i missed my one year mark, but it was yesterday (march 22nd) lol. maybe cause im not as obssesed with my hair growing, cause its so busy around here. or maybe cause i'm fed up with my piece of crap camera, im not sure... but i do need to pick up a new camera. i'm still deciding between the canon xs, canon xsi and the nikon d60 . not sure which one ill pick up yet. oh and my BC (big chop) 1 yr anniversary is coming up in june so i may just update then, we'll see...

eta: Dec 14 - my hair is long enough now to low ponytail and pigtail without clips.

ARG, Sign me up for hair obsessed anonymous. I can't stop taking pictures! lol. I enrolled myself into a "hide your hair till 2008" challenge and I cant do it. I mean I can't be the only one that needs to know the status of their hair 24/7. Okay... I'm not that obsessed. But this hide your hair stuff isn't for me. Sooooooo, I'm changing the challenge a little bit to something I can stick with.

"No stretch till 08"... challenge. ha heh.... Meaning that I wont stretch/ or take pictures of my stretched hair till 2008. I original choose January 08 but since i recently chopped the back, my length is probably going to shorter than when I started this challenge ( you can read about the cut on my hair journal). I figure May is a good month, (cause it's my birthday!!!) and because it will give me time to reach my minor goal.

washed with nothing but water yesterday and today.... no shampoo. no conditioner. no leave in, no spritzes nothing. i just washed for about 10 mins with warm water and detangled with my fingers.

i was fully prepared to have my hair looking like a big mess.

surprisingly though i dont think it looks half bad.. major fluff/ frizz factor in effect, but not half bad :)

the paul mitchell experiment:

soooo today. i decided to listen to my mother whoes been beating me up for using non-salon brand shampoos and conditioners. ( shes a stylist so thats a big nono in our family)

so today with a load of paul mitchell product i got to work.
shampooed with the wash, conditioned, detangled which i normally do. added paul mitchell round trip just before the rinse. but today i added a lil more after i rinsed out my hair. then set out to let it airdry.

5 hours later.....................

is this my hair??? wheres most of my shinkage, wheres the frizz, wheres the sheen????
it seems paul mitchell had decided to transform my hair into a shiny, silky, curly/wavy defined frizz free hair type ive never seen on my head!

im confused yet in awe. i do like it, however i still have a feeling this style would look better on much longer hair. only problem is that it takes out some volume. ( eta: 2 hrs later some volume had returned when i fluffed it out. i like it alot better) so for now i think ill stick with the mega volume look untill it grows out some more. :)

Im leaving my hair be for a while, Im on my own personal 19 month challenge to grow 11 inch or so by july 2008.

First length check since BC:

I know what your thinking,,, I deserve to be beaten for flat ironing my hair so soon after I last did it.

But I have a good excuse.... lol Im getting my hair cut and evened up tomorrow so I thought Id better straighting it out myself, since I only trust myself with hot tools near my hair.

Still chasing after the elusive waist.. err hip length.

This will one of only 2 or 3 times I plan on flat ironing my hair this year. Also I wanted to have a straight hair length shot to compare to next year.

Normally I follow the "dont touch your hair till completly dry" rule as soon as I wash out the conditioner.

However today after washing the conditioner (Sunsilk) out, and applied some leave in (actually the very same conditioner that i used for my CW.) and finger combed it through my hair.

There wasnt much of a big difference in how my hair turned out, though I did have less frizz.

i got tired of bunning so i picked out my hair and decided to try and rock a puff. relaxed ends and all lol.

ETA:now i know we're not supposed to envy other ppls textures or anything but sometimes i wish i had some more 4a hairs in there so i could do a real puff, instead of just picking my hair out and ending up with a semi ok looking frizzy ponytail lol.

Ill post some pics of my hair up and not picked out as well as someone had requested that.

this year im starting with about 9 inches of natural hair.

and this year i plan to focus more on length. i hope to be a couple inches from waist (when streched) and brastrap length or close to it when curly.

1 year and 6 months into transition.

Making a promise to myself to cut off a 1/2 inch to one inch every month till the relaxed ends are gone.

I started my transition in the middle of july 2005, its one year later. only one more year to go!!

Dyed my hair black but other than that pretty much a boring month. Hopefully there'll be changes in May. :)

I find the less product I use on my hair, the better it is. Here are some of the few products that i do use.

This will be my third time transitioning. yes third lol. This time (I swear) theres no going back. The photos in the random album were takin in 2005. The photo of my part natural/relaxed hair was the longest I had gone without relaxer. One year and a half and 8-9 inches of natural hair.

This year I'm starting with about 4 inches of natural hair, and I did a mini chop so my hair length is now about brastrap length. Let the journey begin.....
