    389

The model 389 is Peterbilt's premium traditionally styled conventional. A BBC of 131, the hood is aluminum. Only axle-forward available. 388 looks similar to the shorter hood 388 (123" BBC).

    389 replaced the 379-127" in 2008.

    365

The model 365 is available in axle forward and set-back configurations. BBC of 116. The 365 replaced the 357 short hood in 2008. An easy way to tell a 365 SFFA from a 367 is to look at the stepboard skirt (lower cab panel covering the cab mount). On365, the skirt appears to have a 'hook' at the front where it tucks in behind the fender. 367 has a smooth curved skirt. 365 is not available with external air cleaners.

    367 Set Forward Axle

The model 367 is available in SFFA and SBFA and SBFA HeavyHaul tall hood. BBC is 123".
    367 replaced the 357 and 378 models in 2008.

    388

The 388 is a 123" BBC aluminum "traditional style" conventional. Available as a set-forward front axle only. 388 shares the same style as the longer hood (131" BBC) 389. 388 is also available in a "car hauler" hood with hardly any slope to the top of the hood. This version of 388 is extremely difficult to tell apart from 389.

    388 replaced the 379-119" in 2008.

    386

The model 386 is a 126" BBC with a sloped hood and swept back fenders. The 386 replaced the model 385 (377) in 2008. 386 looks similar to the 384, but has a longer hood. The 386 grille/crown leans back slightly and the intermediate fender section is short on 386.

    384

The model 384 is very similar to a 386 and is difficult to distinguish between the two. 386 has a 126" BBC.
384 is 116" BBC. The easiest way to spot the difference is in the intermediate fender section. On 386 the section will be relatively short. On 384 the panel is quite long. The grille on 384 also appears to stand up straighter than 386, which leans back.

384 replaced the model 385 short hood in 2008.

    367 Set Back

    382

The model 382 is a cross between the class 8 chassis and cab height and the hood/bumper of the 330 series of Peterbilts. The 382 hood has an extension at the rear of the hood to give it a BBC of 110".

    Consolidated Peterbilt

Consolidated Peterbilt was famous for their advertising in the truck magazines in the late 1970's - the ads always featuring the snazziest Peterbilts of the time. These photos are courtesy of Adam Gower whose late father was a photographer for many of the Consolidated ads and magazine layouts. You may recognize many of these Class Acts from the late 70's and early 80s. The last bunch of color pics are by an unknown photographer.
