Our journey starts with a descent into the Valley of Jehoshaphat where the dead will be resurrected on the Day of Judgement. The valley sides are covered with Christian, Jewish, and Muslim graves. The large tomb is from the 1st century BC. Absalom's Tomb contains King David's rebellious son, Absalom. From there we climb to the top of the valley: we visit the Church of St. Mary Magdalene, the Basilica of the Agony, the Garden of Gethsemane, the Tomb of the Virgin, the Dominus Flevit Chapel [The Lord Wept], and the Jewish Cemeteries--then back down to where we started our journey.
It was a quiet day for us both, holding much meaning. We stopped often, sat and meditated.
