Hi honey, I'm home...I am from York. I used to work on the starting line operating the aircraft radio. You were one of our favorite acts. Thanks for sharing and for your web site...

Jim left us way too soon and the world's drag-racing fans were stunned in September of 1977. Thanks to Pam and all the guys/gals who keep the memories of the world's greatest funny car pilot alive. Pam was certainly one of the finer attractions during drag racing's golden years. Jim was a very astute and lucky man.

Followed you for years in Drag Racing USA and other mags. The only chance I had to see you locally I was shipping out on a week-long camping trip and had to pass on the awesome opportunity. Yinz match-raced Fast Eddie Schartman at Peterson Memorial Dragway in Tipton, PA (near Altoona, central PA). Must have been '68 or '69. Gosh, I wish I wouldn't have missed that! Later witnessed your magic at the Nationals in the early- to mid-'70s. JJ never scrimped on the burnout and always seemed to have enough left for another 1320 feet. You look great, Pam, and keep wearing the "JJ" T-shirts! STILL easy on the eyes!!!

My family owned Interstate 20 Raceway in Tyler, Texas in the 60's. I was a preteen and then a teenager.

I am friends of Cindy Heilsher whose father owned Green Valley Raceway in Fort Worth, Texas.

I am still "knee deep" in drag racing eventhough I'm 54 years old now. ALL 3 husbands have dragraced, and my 34 year old son is now racing Super Pro class.

I have seen Gene Snow "Snowman" in the last year, and he was at our racetrack many, many times. I remember JUNGLE JIM and JUNGLE PAM being my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE COUPLE!!!!

Any magazine or photo I could get my hands on - I had in my room at home, and then my dorm room at college. I never got to see Jungle Jim race in person. But I saw photos!
I would have traded places with Pam in a heartbeat....Those were the days, I would like very much to hear from Pam.
I have a scrapbook of just THEM, from the 70's.

    LOVE YOU PAM!

who cares about who the national champion is and how many
points they may have. i am sure the racers do. but the fans
    want a show.
jj and jp gave us the greatest show in drag racing
and thats what made "the" fans "their" fans
let the memories live on pam

Pam , Thanks for the memories . I was a regular Fan at York US 30 for too many years to remember . Just the thought of those wild fire burnouts and the shooort shorts directing them , brings back the most joyous time of my life when Drag Racing Ruled in York Co. Pa. Thanks again and hope to see at the US30 reunion this year .

I grew up less than a mile from Steve Kanuika's Speed Shop on Rt 202 in PA. "Jungle's" car was always there on display in the front showroom. "Dutch" Irrgang had a small machine shop just behind Joe Forwood's ARCO station, less than a 1/4 mile from Kanuika's where he machined "crash" box four-speeds. I did all the work on my '70 340 Duster at Joe's station, sometimes sleeping in the car overnight. Joe was a great mechanic and had a wicked '67 Camaro 327 w/two fours. I never realized at the time how much history was being written in my back yard.
I hung out plenty at Cecil County Dragway and now live in North East, MD. "Jungle" was a great showman, but I think most of the guys there would watch him wheelstand a bicycle as long as Pam was doing the staging. What she could do to a pair of go-go boots and hotpants!
It's funny, I could never get that Duster out of the 12's on my limited budget. I could never get it to hook up. Back then tires were crap and gas was great. Now tires are great and gas is crap! Maybe someday the two will come together.
Thanks for the great site and allowing me some nostalgia time.

ps. I saw Pam at the "Funny Car Reunion" at Englishtown in 2002 and she still looks great! I wish I still had that Duster.

Just wanted to say how much I appreciate this site. It brings back so many fond memories. My wife and I would always be at the old Lakeland drag strip here in Memphis when Jungle Jim and Jungle Pam were there. There was usually a good match race involved in those days. Jungle Pam, you always made quite an impression on us guys. Believe my you were something else, girl. Again, great to see these picutes and best of luck to you, Pam.

Hanging with Jungle, Lew Arrington, Bob Liberman, in the sixties, is one of my fondest memories.

I remember meeting Bruce Larson at the York US 30 Dragway. Jungle met Bruce at the same time, and Bruce was a big fan of JJ. JJ gave him some helpful hints about the US 1 Camero. JJ took a real liking to Bruce, and they became good friends.

We all long to go back to the days when a "funny car" looked like a car and a "fuel dragser" looked like a dragster. The reunions are great. I have been going to "Good-Guy stuff and is way more fun that the Nationals. Sure miss JJ. I have seen him and you at Cordova Illinois @ the World Series. Did you ever race at a 1/8 mile track in Springfield Illinois? Sure enjoy the web site. thanks for the memories....mike coker
