This is my hair in early September 06. I have been transitioning from relaxed to natural since December 04. After having a lot of breakage, I decided to cut my hair and start over from scratch. September of last year I cut my hair down to about 2 inches on the top and had it cut fairly close in the back. The first few months after I cut my hair it grew like crazy!!! I had gone from 2inches to like 4 in the first Month and a half to two months. I though with the way my hair was growing then that I would be back to my original length by now. Needless to say, that didn't happen. It seems like from Feb - July my hair just stopped growing. I would say I officially decided to start my hair journey this September, so here I am in the beginning stages of my journey.

I was initially seeking length, but now I'm really focused on just having healthy hair. My hair seems to be very weak and always looks dry no matter what I do to it. I have 3 different textures of hair. The top portion of my head is a lot finer than the rest of my head and has a subtle wave pattern. The middle..... Good Lawd, the middle of my head is... Wow I don't even know how to describe it. It's very thick and course to say the least. The back of my head is kind of curly and an easier to manage. It even tends to have a little shine to it from time to time. When I use to relax my hair the back of my hair would look closer to European track hair and the front would be yaki. I’m sure there is probably nothing I can do to change the texture of the rest of my hair, other than texturizing and I’ve decided not to put any chemicals in my hair ever again… Well, except for the color I put in in June, LOL. I will not have ANY chemical treatments done to my hair from here on out.

This is my hair before I got it braided. You can see the color in these pics. It was supposed to be copper. Instead it turned out crappy brown. Not to mention my ends have been the worst since I colored.
