My visit to India started in Delhi. I was overwhelmed by a total sensory overload that this city throws at you, so I did not take too many photos there.

Jaipur, the capital of Rajastan was the second city I visited in India. Even though it's still a very large town, it was already noticably more quiet and less pushy then crazy Delhi. Or was I just getting acclimatized to India...

I came to Pushkar for a couple of days and ended up staying for 2 weeks. That little town surroundung a holy lake was the first place where I started to relax and enjoy my trip through India.

Rishikesh became my "home away from home" in India. In my first visit to India I spent almost 3 months in this wonderful little town on the Ganges river.

Famous Shiva temple built in South-Indian style high on the hills above Rishikesh attracts many pilgrims. Some make a hard 8km long ascent barefoot and some measure the whole distance with their bodies.

While living in Rishikesh, I joined for a 10 day trek to the Nanda Devi region. I usually prefer trekking on my own, but this time got tempted by Ramesh a guide and owner of a trekking agency to join him into this wonderful remote area. The trail to our intended destination was destroyed by landslides and we ended up going through areas that have never seen western tourists.

My visit to Gangotri, a piligrimage to the source of the Ganges river and beyond, high in the Himalayas. Magnificent views of Shivling, Baghirati, Thalay Sagar and other famous mountaineering peaks.

Gangnani, a small village on the way from Uttarkashi to Gangotri. It's a great stopover with a few guesthouses, hot springs and tiny villages in the area to expore.

I spent three weeks in Ladakh - the northernmost region of India situated on the extension of Tibetan Plateau. I was lucky to be there during Ladakh Festival and to see and hear Dalai Lama speaking there for 3 days.
