Dave H's mk11 GP Super Buggy
Chassis / suspension
· 1973 1300 beetle chassis bought off e-bay on a Q Plate fully restored Shot blasted and painted with 2 coats of etch primer and battle ship grey
· Sway-away adjustable front beam purchased and set to it lowest setting using standard front shocks
· Standard rear shocks and raised 2 notches on torsion bars to give it the higher look
Body
Original 70's mkII LWB GP bought off e-bay with the Chassis for £400
· Original gel coat colour was red. The body was repaired and then re-sprayed using:-
· 2 coats of primer plus 1 Primer mix coat.
· 3 Coats of top coat paint
· 1 drop coat of top paint
· 3 coats of lacquer
· All this was then flatted back with 2000 wet and dry then buffed using G40 paste to give it the mirror shine
Standard GPII Bonnet and screen with bullet wing mirrors
Wheels / brakes
· 14 inch proline Modular steelies
· Front 165/55/14
· Rears 215/85/14
· Standard drum brakes all round. All new solid/flexi brake lines and new master cylinder were fitted when chassis was restored
· Standard beetle pedal cluster
Engine
1600 twin port was first thing that was totally rebuilt by me and my son Sam
Twin 40 Kadron carburettors fitted for a bit of extra va va voom
009 dizzy
fan housing colour coded metallic burgundy to match rest of car
Chromed engine where we could using parts from cool-air and SSP
4 individual power pipe exhausts with additional baffles that can be inserted when a quieter ride is needed
Interior
Corbeau bucket seats with 3 point harnesses than can detach and become lap belts only
Mountney steering wheel
Home made rear bench seat which was re-upholstered in Red velour
Red Carpet throughout
6 point roll cage that we made ourselves and powder-coated white
Mutant CD and MP3 Player with speakers hidden in floor of back seats
