This horse is part of a group wild horses that belong to a protected dune landscape at the Belgian coast. Although those horses live near to human settlements and protected in a fenced Nature Reservation, they are completely on their own and stay out even in the winter. They serve no other purpose than to graze and to help nature to find it's balance back by protecting the area from becoming overgrown. It took only a few years of this aproach to bring back hundreds of species from different life forms as birds, reptils, insects and plants as mosses, mushrooms and flowers to that area.
