This little pear tree is about 5ft tall. Because I have no real garden it roots in a self designed raised bed which I made from pine, thick plastic foil and soil.
Planting this tree was a spontaneous decision when I asked at the market for the price of 2 pounds of cherries. The price was about 10$ and I answered that I'd rather buy a cherry tree for that price. I am pretty stubborn and found myself back in a garden center one hour later but the cherry trees were all sold (which didn't surprise me) and I decided for a pear tree, which was a little shorter than myself. His little stem was not much thicker than my thumb. I guess you can't expect a full grown tree for 7 bucks and this little wannabe just fitted into my little "garden"
Today - about 10 years later - he is still about 5ft, I cut him 3 times a year. But his stem is thick and sturdy now and since a few years he grows between 25 and 35 huge and delicious pears every year.
From spring to fall he is a friendly host for uncounted spiders, bees, ladybugs and many other insects. Late in fall I the pears get replaced by several fat balls for the birds and I think their "natural guano" is what makes my little pear tree such a great and generous donor.
The weight of the pears is between 370 and 510 gr (13 - 18 ounces) each.
The pictures are sorted by month, not by year and there will be pictures of different years.
