Third Annual Massing of the Colors at Virginia War Memorial, Richmond, Va. Maj. Gen. David L. Evans, commanding general of the 80th Division (IT), gave the keynote address. Color guards representing military, patriotic, and civic organizations participated in the massing of the colors.

On July 16, 2006, 134 Soldiers from the 80th Division (IT) returned to the United States at Indianapolis International Airport. These Soldiers were the first lift of several to return from a year-long deployment to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. From the airport, the Soldiers were taken by bus to Camp Atterbury, where family members waited to welcome them home.

Col. Paul Linkenhoker, Chief of Staff of the 80th Division (Institutional Training) was named the Richmond Times-Dispatch's Correspondent of the Year for 2006 during a luncheon honoring the 2006 correspondents of the day at its plant in Hanover County. Due to his deployment, he appeared via video, and his wife accepted the award on his behalf.

The Girl Scouts from the Girl Scout Council of Skyline set out to sell enough Girl Scout cookies to send each member of the 80th Division serving in Iraq one box of cookies. They blew through that goal and sold over 800 boxes in Louisa County alone! These photos were taken at a packing and shipping party at the main office in Charlottesville on the evening of 2/23/06. The girls also made confetti and cards to include in the boxes with the cookies.
