In the beginning
Dec 4, 2007

I had been wearing a sew in for about 3 months. My hair was so damaged. I wanted the weave out and wanted to work on my own hair. I could not believe the difference in the two photos. I started pre-pooing 3x's a week, using BT, Indian Oils, and wearing it in a ponytail everyday.

Braids for the next month
May 22, 2008

I decided to get braids for the remainder of the month and wear them until at least the middle of June. We are going to travel and I don't want to have to deal with what is a massive fro underneath the permed hair. By the way, I LOOOOVE my fro! Anyway, I am using Ovation and Mega-Tek for the next few months. It so hard to see growth with my daily protective style, so by wearing these braids, I will get to see it coming in and also get to see how quickly the two are working for me. Wish me luck!

New Sew-In

So it's almost time for me to go back to work.....NOOOOOOO!!!! I enjoy being off and now it's almost over. Anywho, I am going to Hawaii in a couple of weeks and got another sew-in. I have been using Ovation and Mega-Tek the entire summer. I have had growth, but am not able to post pictures because my son put my phone in the toilet, soooooo. Anyway, I am working on geting a camera so that I can update. I am really happy with the growth I have received from the combination of the two products I am using.

Mega/Tek-Ovation Journey

This folder will chart my growth for using this product. I have been using it for a while and have seen growth. Right now, I am in another weave and am trying to wear it until the 1st of November. That will be my one full year of transitioning for me. I pray I can make it without having to take the weave out. It is convinent having the weave. I continue to co-wash at lest twice a week. I apply the product daily using a color applicator. I had been mixing it with oil, but now I've started using straight Mega-Tek on my nape and the front of my hair and use the mixture I made with oils between the braids of the tracks. On the parts I put the product on straight, I also put some Carefree Curl/Coconut Oil mixture on it. I will place photos in here in November of my starting pictures as well as comparison shots of the products for the next two months. Here's praying for a gain of at least 3 to 4 inches. Well I'll go ahead and claim 4!

I updated this alblum and must say I am very pleased with the results. I bought a half wig and will wear it during the winter months when my hair is not in a bun. I thought I would get it blown out, wear it a week, shampoo it and then cut off the perm parts. I think I'll see how long I can hold out before I do that. Maybe I can make it until spring. We'll see!

Sew-In 1-29-09

In Jaunary, after a blow out and being disappointed with the way my hair looked in the back in the middle I cut off all of the permed hair. I had been growing it out for about 15 months so I had a fair amount of hair. I was still shocked at how it reverted back to my head. I also found that what worked for my permed hair did not work for my natural hair. My natural hair does not care for a lot of prodcuts. Since it is cold, I decided to get another sew in and wear it for a while. I won't get another blow out until my birthday in April. I'm trying keep this in until the end of March or at least for 8 weeks. Maybe it will be easier for me to do this time because my hair is all natural now. Who knows? That's my plan for now.

8-8-09
I'm adding some pictures of my puff from July 2009. I really couldn't tell how big it looked from behind. I'm still in love with my natural hair! I will probably get it straightened again in January 2010. I have had braids and a sew-in for the summer.

Blow Out 4-24-09
Apr 24, 2009

I have been wanting to know what my hair would look like straight since I've chopped off all of my permed hair. Well I'm really happy with the results so far. Before I went to get it done, I put my powders (paste) on it, sealed it with some alma and coconut oil and went to the gym for 3 hours. I went to the sauna for about 30 minutes and let the powders permiate through my scalp. Once I returned from the gym, I showered and rinsed the paste. I then put some hello hydration on it more coconut oil and some alma oil gold on it and went to the shop. It was a good visit. It didn't take much to detangle my hair and she used the red rollers. When she was finish blowing it out she showed me what it looked like from behind. I have layers! There was no more see through hair. I'm so happy. My hair looks so much thicker now. I can hardly wait to see how much length I have at the end of the year. I'm going to wear it out for a few days, get my ends trimmed and then get a sew in for a month.

Length check 9-22-09
Sep 22, 2009

So next month will make two years since I last had a perm. I bc'ed in January 2009 and have been loving my natural hair. I have been wearing sew-ins and even had micros for a month. My hair is so thick and it is getting massive. The bigger, the better I say. I will get my entire head of hair straightened in January to celebrate my 1 year bc date.

I have been using Ovation/Megatek. I will use up what I have and go back to only doing my tea rinses, oiling my scalp with coconut/castor oil mixture, and sealing with coconut oil. As of today, I think I'm going to wear my hair out for the next 2 weeks, then get another sew in until the end of the year. This past sew in lasted me 7 1/2 weeks. I was also happy to see my ends looking very healthy. I always get a trim before I go back into a sew in.

Oh and I couldn't really get the roots straight and really didn't care since I was just doing a quick length check. So even though it shows it stopping right at the mole, it's about 1/2 more length hiding in the shrinkage. I will use the mole to check length each time and try to find the length shirt I ordered. Oh and I coated my hair in coconut oil and used Chi flat iron spray on medium sized sections before I attempted to straigthen with my baby bliss on about 14 setting.

New Year 2010

I haven't posted new pictures in a while. The last post was September 22, 2009. The very next day, my fiance was involved in a hit and run on his motorcycle and died of his injuries 16 days later. Needless to say, I was devastated. I ended up getting my hair blown out for his funeral, but did not even think about taking photos.

For New Years Eve, my sister in law asked me to go out with them. I got my hair straightened for that event and did take some photos, but not any of the length in the back. Before I wet my hair again after the party, I took lots of shots of the growth. The only problem is the battery in my camera is dead and I don't know where the charger is. My life has changed so much since September 23, 2009. I'm back into my hair now and am currently in a sew in until the middle of April. I'm wearing the Brazilian Remi that one of the girls on The Long Hair Care Forum posted. It is by far the best hair I have had sewn in. I will post pictures soon.

May 7, 2011 Update

May 2011 Update
I was wearing a sew-in for about 10 weeks. I started taking MSM 1,000 mg twice a day
along with Kreel oil and vitamin D. I also used a mixture of MT, Boundless Tresses, and MN. I only added the MN to the mix a little of over a week ago. I would co-wash at least three times a week if not more. While I didn't see much growth in length, I did notice it was very thick. Before I got the last sew-in, I had my ends trimmed to even it all up. I'm not sure how much she took off. I will continue using my mixture, taking my vits, and get some type of protective styling near the middle of the month to last for a month or two.
