Montréal,is the largest city in the Canadian province of Quebec and the second-largest city in Canada. Montreal was the largest city in Canada up until 1976 w ...more when it was surpassed in size by Toronto. Originally called Ville-Marie ('City of Mary'), the city takes its present name from Mount Royal, the three-headed hill at the heart of the city, whose name was also initially given to the island on which the city is located - or Mont Réal as it was spelt in French,
The official language of Montreal is French as defined by the city's charter. Montreal is the second-largest primarily French-speaking city in the world, after Paris, la ville lumière. As of the 2009 Canadian Census, about 2 million people live in the city of Montreal. French is the language most spoken at home by 70.5% of the population.
It's a beautiful city - it's very clean - Pikliz is proud to bring you some pictures. Enjoy them. Bonne visite.

Photos & narration by Frankie Morone.
Manhattan is the most populous city in the United States, with its metropolitan area ranking among the largest urban areas in the world. It has been the ...more largest city in the United States since 1790. It is rated as an alpha world city for its global influences in media, politics, education, entertainment, arts and fashion. It is also a major center for foreign affairs, hosting the headquarters of the United Nations.
New York City has five boroughs: The Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens and Staten Island. With over 8.2 million residents within an area of 322 square miles, New York City is the most densely populated city in the US.
Many of the city's neighborhoods and landmarks are known around the world. The Statue of Liberty for instance greeted millions of immigrants as they came to America in the late 19th and early 20th centuries; Wall Street, in Lower Manhattan, has been a dominant global financial center since World War II and is home to the New York Stock Exchange. The city has been home to several of the tallest buildings in the world. Among them the Empire State building and many others.
New York is the birthplace of many American cultural movements. Believe it or not Salsa was invented in NYC. 170 languages are spoken in the city. The best cheese cake made right here in Brooklyn; the best pizza in Greenwich Village. With its 24-hour subway system, over 12000 cabs, over 3000 restaurants, 2 major airports and constant bustling of traffic and people, New York is known as "The City That Never Sleeps". It is also called the" Big Apple" because there is a piece for everyone. It is noisy, the traffic unbearable sometimes, duty in some parts but it is the "GREATEST CITY IN THE WOLRD" . I invite you to take a pictorial tour of this city. The majority of the pictures were taken by me. Some were simply obtained from various other web sites. Thank you and enjoy. I honestly welcome comments. Do not hesitate to post one please. Frankie Morone. - Comments: 1

| | pikliz | - Santa Barbara by Frankie Morone.

-
Santa Barbara is located about 90 miles North of Los Angeles, along the Pacific coast. This stretch of coast of Santa Barbara is often referred to as the "American Riviera" because its geography ...more and Mediterranean climate are reminiscent of the French and Italian Riviera.
The view of the harbor is spectacular, breathtaking so to speak. The mountains rise dramatically behind the city. Some of them resemble the "morne l'hopital" overlooking our capital Port-au-Prince. Sometimes, it snows on the mountains, but it rarely stays for more than a few days. Not too far from the town and adjacent to the "Mission Santa Barbara" there is a mountain known as the "Riviera". On the skirt of that mountain there is a small town called MONTECITO.
Montecito is among the wealthiest communities in the US and is home to many celebrities. It is located just a few miles of Santa Barbara. There are some really really beautiful & expensive homes. Lots of celebrities live there: among them Bruce Johnston, Oprah Winfrey , Carol Burnett, Jonathan Winters,Steve Martin, Tab Hunter, John Cleese, Jimmy Connor, Steven Spielberg, Kevin Costner, Kirk Douglas, Dennis Miller, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Bob Gale, Ty Warner (billionaire toy entrepreneur, "Beanie Babies") just to name a few. On some of Montecito's road are planted very very tall trees; as one is driving, one can see the bark of those trees peeling and that gives a very very sweet - fresh (comme un jasmin) fragrance the town. I believe they were imported from Australia.
Many artists make Santa Barbara their home (and of course I can understand that). "The Santa Barbara Museum of Art est très très jolie". It's worth the visit.
Other art venues are "the University Art Museum" which is on the UCSB campus. There are several private galleries, and a wide variety of art and photo shows.
The Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History is located immediately behind the Santa Barbara Mission in a complex of Mission-style buildings set in a park-like campus. (you will see a picture of that church). The museum offers indoor exhibits and a state-of-the-art planetarium. (très jolie). There is also "The Santa Barbara Maritime Museum located near the Harbor.
Santa Barbara is simply a beautiful place. A nice place to retire. Enjoy these beautiful pictures and make this place your next vacation stop. You will not regret it.

Every Memorial Day weekend, Dr. Stephen P. Leatherman (affectionately known as Dr. Beach) issues his list of America's Best Beaches. He visits over 100 beaches each year ...more in an official quest for just the right combination of soft sand, crystal-blue water and public-pleasing amenities. After two years in second place, Fort DeSoto Park's North Beach took top honors this year! Florida also scored two other spots on the top 10 list — Caladesi Island State Park in Clearwater and Cape Florida State Park in Key Biscayne.
Let's take a closer look at this year's Florida winners...
Fort Desoto Park North Beach at Fort DeSoto Park is a natural jewel on the finger of a sun-drenched city," says Dr. Stephen Leatherman, known best as "Dr. Beach." "It's a long, wide, sugar sand beach with great shelling and thriving natural dunes, on the Gulf of Mexico. There's a 105-year-old fort that is a landmark of Florida history. Along with being a wonderful place to swim, there's fishing, boating, canoeing, kayaking, bird-watching, camping, biking, walking trails, and even a dog park for enjoying the outdoors with your four-legged pals," he adds with a wide grin. The beach also offers modern facilities and plenty of parking, key ingredients for top swimming beaches. Located at the mouth of Tampa Bay, the park is made up of five islands with a total of over seven miles of beaches.
Fort Desoto Park is located in South Pinellas County and open daily 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.. Pets are restricted to certain areas (there is a dog park). Saltwater fishing licenses are required in Florida. Reservations for camping must be made in person no more than 30 days in advance. Payment must be made at the time of the reservation. Call 727-582-2267 for further information.
Caladesi Island State Park Fishing, shelling and nature studies are good ways to enjoy a visit to Caladesi. Located on the Gulf of Mexico, sand dunes line the open beach with turtles and shore birds finding it the perfect location for nesting. Periodic storm tides cover the area limiting the plant diversity, but sea oats and palmetto are two of the most hardy. Ferry service is available from the mainland, departing hourly with weather permitting. Picnic pavilions, bath houses and a park concession provide additional amenities to make your visit to Caladesi more enjoyable. Boaters can enjoy the bayside marina where overnight docking is permitted.
Caladesi Island State Park is located west of the city of Dunedin (North of Clearwater) on the Gulf Coast. Hours of operation: 8 a.m. to sundown, 365 days a year. Pets are not permitted in many areas. Saltwater fishing licenses are required in Florida. Admission fees are $4.00 for up to 8 people per private boat and kayakers $1.00 per person. Fees vary for parking at Honeymoon Island and ferry to Caladesi Island. Pavilion fees are $32.10 per pavilion with reservations two weeks in advance. Call 727-469-5918 for further information.
Cape Florida State Recreation Area A little over a mile of wide, sandy beachfront offers visitors exceptional Atlantic swimming year-round. Shoreline fishing from the seawall located along Biscayne Bay along with guided tours of the Lighthouse and Cultural Complex offer visitors a variety of activities. Covered pavilions provide shaded picnicking and overnight boat mooring is available based on availability. Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park is located on Key Biscayne in Southeast Florida. Hours of operation are year round 8 a.m. to sundown. Pets are restricted from many areas. Saltwater fishing licenses are required in Florida. Admission is $5.00 per vehicle (up to 8 occupants), single-occupant vehicle, $3.00 and walk-ins $1.00. For further information call 305-361-5811.

Dr. Beach The way Dr. Leatherman began rating the nation's beaches and how he became affectionately named "Dr. Beach" is an interesting story that had its beginning in childhood. What is especially interesting is that in a few short years, he has turned his passion into a legend, and he has become practically an icon. Dr. Leatherman has been a coastal scientist with 30 years of international experience studying storm impacts, erosion and way to improve beach health. He is Florida International University's director of the International Hurricane Research Center and the Laboratory for Coastal Research. The center is also home to the National Healthy Beaches Campaign founded by Leatherman.
Meet Dr. Beach and read his story, find out how other beaches scored, and discover other beachy topics.

Los Angeles is the largest city in the state of California and the Western United States. It is the second largest city in the US. (NYC being the largest one of course). It has an estimated ...more population of 4 million and spans over 500 square miles. Additionally, the Los Angeles metropolitan area is home to nearly 13 million residents who are from all over the world and speak 224 different languages.(Haitian Creole is one of them). Los Angeles county is the most populated and one of the most diverse counties in the United States.
Its inhabitants are known as "Angelinos"
Los Angeles was founded on September 4, 1781, by the Spanish governor Felipe de Neve. It became a part of Mexico in 1821, following its independence from Spain.
In 1848, at the end of the Mexican-American War, Los Angeles and California were purchased as part of the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, thereby becoming part of the United States. Los Angeles was incorporated as a municipality on April 4, 1850, five months before California achieved statehood.
Los Angeles is one of the world's largest center of business, international trade, entertainment, culture, media, fashion, science, technology, and education. Los Angeles leads the world in producing "entertainment" — such as motion picture,( remember the old cowbows movies - Wagon Train), television show (Jay Leno - Jimmie Kimmel etc.), and recorded music — which forms the base of its international fame and global status.
To me, it is the most beautiful city of the US. Unfortunately, it is very prone to earthquake (althought they haven't had one for nearly 40 years).
Enjoy these beautiful pictures that I took on a recent trip there and make a comment if you wish. Enjoy the visit.
