to showcase the world renowned designs of talented Haitian artist Philippe Dodard on Saturday, November 4 th, 2006.

Those in attendance held to the utmost suspense of a raffle entitled "Key to your Heart." In an ingenious tour de force, they have purchased a key, which key may or may not open the cases containing three grand raffle prizes: exquisite pieces of jewelry with a combined total value that ranges close to $3,000.

Though raffle winners, the true winners that evening have been the children of Haiti who benefit from the various programs that FOKAL ( Fondation Connaissance et Liberté / Fondasyon Konesans Ak Libète) operate in country. FOKAL, the Soros Foundation in Haiti, has been providing a range of education, human development and economic activities to local communities and organizations since 1995, and after more than 10 years on the ground is in need of support.

MONTICA/JIVAN will donate 100% of all raffle donations to FOKAL who has become one of the most leading and fiscally sound organizations in Haiti.

Fonkoze USA is the American nonprofit that assists Fonkoze in its critical work. Both Fonkoze and Fonkoze USA are committed to the economic and social improvement of the people and communities of Haiti and to the reduction of poverty in the country.

Both organizations are non-political and take no official positions on any aspect of the Haitian political situation.

Although Board directors, staff and clients may express such opinions, they do not ever express these on behalf of Fonkoze or Fonkoze USA.

The success of the Symphony of the Americas Friends of Haiti Benefit Concert not only pulled together the energy and good will of members of Ft. Lauderdale Sister Cities, ...more

the Fort Lauderdale Downtown Rotary, The Symphony of the Americas, Royal Caribbean International, Citrix, Auto Nation, and The Broward Center for the Performing Arts, but to a greater extent, the concert rallied many citizens of our community who wanted to make a difference and contribute to improve the lives of people in Haiti. Thanks to all of you, numerous projects have been funded from the funds raised at last year’s 1st Annual Haiti Benefit Concert. Some of the projects are:

A tree nursery employing women in the village of Labadie
A water purification project that will service 5,000 inhabitants
A computer and technology center that is under way.
A portion of the funds have been committed towards the Rotary Matching Grant Program towards a project that will be organized by the Fort Lauderdale Rotary International Committee in collaboration with Cap Haitien Rotarians and members of the Cap Haitien Sister Cities program.

Once again, we are being called together for a great cause.
