Inaugural Ball @ the Organization of American States, by the Virgin Islands Institute of ...more Development - A celebration of America's Caribbean Community in tribute to President Barack Obama
We are very proud and humbled to announce to you that " Tabou Combo " was selected to play at the OAS Inaugural Ball in Washington DC . The Organization of the American States whose Headquarter is in Washington DC is the entity that represents all the Countries in the Caribbean and Latin America . This World class affair was attended by all the ambassadors of the Countries represented and also the heads of States . Once again Tabou Combo the true ambassador of Haitian culture has accomplished another milestone .
Tabou Combo was allotted the most time to perform, over an hour and a half. Shoubou was energized, inviting the audience who were not too familiar with Haitian music to get up and dance; he even went to the dance floor inviting them to join him. The song that really captivated the audience was when Kapi took to the lead and sing a song in Spanish, the people who were from the Spanish speaking nations, did not waste anytime to get on the dance floor.
Guests were in and out, Una Clark former New York city Council member and mother of Congresswoman Yvette Clark, Rollin Martins -political contributor for CNN, and many other important and influential people in the DC area. Hillary Clinton and Wyclef Jean were also special invited guest, but by the time I left, they did not make their way in yet.
People were celebrating a part of history with the first African-American President Barrack Obama ever elected to office; many did not realize they were being entertained by a band coming from the first black republic in the Americas. - No comments
