Alan celebrated his birthday on 29th August,so we had a short break of 3 nights in the lovely little village of Ballater, Aberdeenshire.
We travelled to Ballater via Avimore and Tomintoul and visited a few castles on the way.
On our second day we did a 9mile walk in the Gairngorms National Park at Glen Quoich (pictures in my walks album)
Day 3 we visited the town on Aberdeen, we visited the area where my Grandma used to live many years ago and other places I remember visiting as a child.
On the last day of our break, we headed home via the coastal route visiting some of the smaller villages on the east coast. We visited Crathes Castle in Angus then headed for Dundee to cross the Tay Road Bridge and head for St. Andrews where we stopped for a short while, we also visited Kellie Castle before heading towards the Forth Road Bridge to head home to East Kilbride.
