Torlum to Comrie
Oct 28, 2006

A lovely autumn walk in Perthshire.
The weather was been very wet, so we thought that the conditions would be terrible. We were pleasantly surprised, although we had some rain it was not very much, the conditions underfoot were also better than anticipated. The most important thing was we got a beautiful walk with the rain making the autumn colours even more beautiful.

Kilchattan Bay, part of the West Island Way on the Isle of Bute
    Jul 22, 2006

Setting off from East Kilbride by bus and travelling to Wemyss Bay to catch the ferry to Rothsay Isle of Bute.
On arriving we travelled to Kilchattan Bay to do a walk along part of the West Island Way. We walked by the sea, over hills and inland. The weather was glorious, and very hot.
We had our social stop in Rothsay a famous resort for the people of Central Scotland in the early 1900. It's a lovely wee place.

    Ceres
    May 27, 2006

Our walk this week took us to the Kingdon of Fife and a lovely little village called Ceres about 9 miles from St. Andrews.
After travelling from East Kilbride we arrived at Ceres and had morning tea in the lovely little tea room. We set off on our walk over open countryside and through woodland areas to Cameron Reservoir wher we stopped for lunch. After Lunch we headed of to walk to the top end of the Reservoir then circle through the countryside back to Ceres .
Our social stop was spent in the lovely pub in the local hotel plus a visit to the home of Wemys Pottery (famous for pottery cats & pigs), we also had a quick visit to the Folk Museum then boarded the bus for our journey home.
The weather throughout the day was very windy at times but also dry and warm.

    Apr 29, 2006

A beautiful day, blue skies, sunshine what more could anyone ask for during our walk within the Loch Lomond National Park.
Our trip to day started with our bus journey from East Kilbride to Tarbert on Loch Lomondside, we then boarded a pleasure craft and sailed along Loch Lomond to Rowardennan where we started our walk.
We walked through forrest trails, along the shores of the Bonnie Bonnie Banks of Loch Lomond to our lunch stop at Cashel Visitors Centre, a beautiful spot. We then continued on our treck towards Balmaha on the banks of the loch where we had a lovely cool drink in one of the beer gardens before heading for our social stop in the village of Drymen.

Merton Bridge St Boswells to Harestanes Visitors Centre.
    Apr 1, 2006

Should have been a nine and a quarter mile walk, unfortunately it was cut short by about 1 mile. The walk took us to the Scottish Borders Country, it started at the Mertoun Bridge at St. Boswells followed the River Tweed, cutting up onto the Roman Road through some woodland to Peniel Heugh where we climbed up to the Waterloo Monument. From the Waterloo Monument we were able to view the border country side, seeing the Eildon Hills, the Lammermuir Hills, and the Cheviot Hills. We decended Peniel Heugh and headed down towards Harestanes Visitors Centre. We then headed to the town of Jedburgh for our social stop. Some of the club members visited the stunning ruins of Jedburgh Abbey.Lovely day out with sunshine and only a very few shouers

    Mar 4, 2006

Another great walk, this time we started in Fife walking from West Balgothrie passing Holl Reservoir entering Perth & Kinross District to finish at the village of Kinross on the shores of Loch Leven. The weather was very cold throughout the day with snow underfoot, but at least it stayed dry. During the walk we had great views of Lomond Hills particularly West Lomond and the surrounding area. We finished out day at South Queensferry in the shadow of the Forth Bridges then headed home to East Kilbride. Another great day.

    Glendevon to Auchterarder
    Jan 7, 2006

A walk in the Perthshire countryside starting at Glendevon and walking over the hills to Auchterarder. The weather was cold, damp and very misty in places. It was lovely to get out into the countryside after the holidays over Christmas and New Year.
We had a short stop in the village of Auchterarder then another stop at the new Tullibardine Distillery outlet just off the main Stirling to Perth Road. The centre has a lovely Baxter's Shop with Tea rooms, a Tiso's and a few other shops. A lovely place to browse.
