Merton Bridge St Boswells to Harestanes Visitors Centre.

Should have been a nine and a quarter mile walk, unfortunately it was cut short by about 1 mile. The walk took us to the Scottish Borders Country, it started at the Mertoun Bridge at St. Boswells followed the River Tweed, cutting up onto the Roman Road through some woodland to Peniel Heugh where we climbed up to the Waterloo Monument. From the Waterloo Monument we were able to view the border country side, seeing the Eildon Hills, the Lammermuir Hills, and the Cheviot Hills. We decended Peniel Heugh and headed down towards Harestanes Visitors Centre. We then headed to the town of Jedburgh for our social stop. Some of the club members visited the stunning ruins of Jedburgh Abbey.Lovely day out with sunshine and only a very few shouers
