Dalmellington to Loch Muck

. We set off by coach to travel from East Kilbride to the Hollybush Inn near Patna in Ayrshire, this is where we had our morning coffee stop. After our morning stop we travelled on to Dalmellington in Ayrshire, this was once a lively mining village, but now there is only open cast coal mining in operation.
Our walk today was a 7.8 mile walk in the Doon Valley Ayrshire, starting in Dalmellington then walking by Bogton Loch up onto Dalnean Hill over the moorland to head for Craigengillan Home Farm stopping for our lunch stop on the way.
At the home farm we stopped while a member of the group told us a little of the history of the area and the gentry who lived there. We also spotted Craigengillan Scout Camp (fort) up on the hill.
Walking on we followed Gaw Glen Burn up onto Bryan's Heights then followed the path on until we came to Loch Muck and Little Eriff Hill. We walked on the path by the side of the loch until we reached to road, then after a short stretch of road walking we reached out bus and the end of our walk. After a quick change we travelled on once again to the Hollybush Inn where we had a very welcome social stop.
To-day we walked in glorious weather, blue sky, brilliant sunshine, lovely white clouds, and lovely little breeze just right to make us feel comfortable as we walked.
Once again great day out plus great company.
Thank's everyone.
