Maidens/ Culzean Circular

After checking and rejecting 3 walks due to compacted ice, snow and general safety issues, we finally got a fantastic walk in Ayrshire with not one bit of snow or ice. The walk we chose was a 6.7 mile circular walk starting at Maidens, round Culzean Country Park finishing again at Maidens. This walk gave us such a great variety, a costal walk with views overlooking the Isle of Arran with it's winter coat on and lovely woodland walking.

Our day as usual started with our journey to our morning coffee stop which today was to be Souter Johnnie's in the lovely litlte village of Kirkoswald. After our coffee we travelled the short distance to Maidens.
On starting our walk we were immediately greeted with beautiful views across the water to the Isle of Arran, dressed in her winter coat, this view followed us throughout the day.
On starting the walk we immediately walk down onto the beach and walked for a short distance before entering Culzean Country Park, we took the costal path that gave us some great views, we continued on this path until we reached the Culzean Pagoda where we took time to take a group photo. We then headed to the Swan Pond where again we took the time to stop and take in the views before heading off to walk round the Pond and head towards Culzean Castle where we planned to stop for our lunch. During our lunch break Linda & Tom served hot mulled wine and Swiss chocolate to the group( a change from mince pies).
After lunch we again headed down onto the beach for a short distance before turning to head uphill to join the path through another woodland area and our path back to Maidens.
Our walk completed we headed back to Souter Johnnie's for our very welcome social stop in lovely cosy surroundings.

To-day a jem of a walkl, beautiful sunshine, not too cold, stunning views and great company. THANK YOU ONE AND ALL.
