Kalemouth to Kelso Abbey
- Apr 5, 2011
We were due to be doing the Crainlarich Recci, but due to poor weather forcasts and high river levels the recci was switched to the Borders and from Kalemouth to Kelso.
5 of us travelled to the Borders and stopped at the Teviot Smokery for our morning coffee.
Our walk today was part of the Borders Abbey Way and started from the Smokery, we crossed the River Teviot to take up our path along by the riverside. After one rain shower that was over as soon as we put on our waterproofs we didn't have any more rain during the day, our weather was warm and sunny for the rest of the walk.
Our day was spent walking along the banks of the River Teviot to where the Teviot joined the River Tweed at Kelso, along the way we had some lovely views of the countryside, passing old mills, ruined castles until we reached Kelso where we had great views of Floors Castle before crossing the bridge over the Tweed to walk into Kelso Abbey.
A lovely day out, and a lovely very easy walk.
