A cold snowy morning, we travelled by bus to Hamilton,as we left East Kilbride the snow was disappearing and by the time we reached Hamilton, there was no snow on the ground. After leaving the bus at Hamilton town centre, we walked down through the town to Strathclyde Park, passing the Hamilton Mausoleum on our way. We were heading to the tea room by Strathclyde Loch to have our morning coffee stop.
After coffee we set off along the side of the loch to head for the path that would take us onto the River Clyde pathway, here we would follow the path that would take us to Baron's Haugh RSPB Nature Reserve. After a short stop at one of the hides, we walked on until we reached the Dalzell Estate and The Lime Walk, here in lovely sunshine we stopped for our lunch break.
Lunch over we set off again taking the path on The Chestnut Walk, this took us up towards the The Old Graveyard, we were also able to see St Patrick's Well and Lord Gavin's Temple, after a short stop to view the Old Graveyard we set off again to pick up the path for the White Walk which would eventually lead us back to our original riverside path and the way back to the Strathclyde Loch.
On reaching the loch some of us continued on a walk round the loch while the others headed for home.
Lovely day out, fantastic weather; great company.
