I an using a rare AHM/Bandai 1/16th scale kit , well basically the tub and the Body and scratchbuilding everything else. The 427 is from the AMT 1/16 Cobra kit and the rest pretty much starts life as sheet Styrene..I hope You Enjoy this build as much as I am doing it!!!

I started the Tyrrell P34 1977 Japan GP about 1 month ago after I had enough reference, so far I have replaced so many kit parts with the MFH transkit parts and added about 100 detail pieces just on the engine and trans..on-going........

For the 1969 Indy 500 Art Pollard qualified the Converted the Lotus 56b "Offy" in 12th place after 7 laps the drive line snapped and the car finished 31st. This is a replica of that car, after 5 months of work the results are obvious, 120+ RB Motion turned Aluminum bolts, washers and nuts, over 6 feet of Stainless, Aluminum and Brass rod and tubing, numerous feet of styrene sheet and rod. No putty or filler was used in the body modifications, its all styrene. There is over 40 hose clamps alone as well as many feet of hose and wire. Months of research went into the build. With only a half a dozen pictures of the actual car many hours of engineering went into the process. Based on the MPC 1968 STP Turbine kit there are No Kit Parts left, only scratchbuilt or modified parts. Originally some 95 kit parts became over 600 parts. I want to personally Thank the members of the Open Wheel Racing Forum for their Help, Support and Devotion to my project. Thanks Guys without You I would have tossed in a box and forgot about it a long time ago, Thanks... Enjoy the Pictures!!!!!

A Heller kit done using a Robustelli transkit. A great paint scheme although the color was difficult and not achieved until the second try.. Tamiya Orange with Bright Red overcoat, to make a semi-daygo color it worked.....

Created by M Kranenfuss of Ford Motorsports fame the project was never run.. There is one of 2 produced for sale on www.race-cars.com for $9500. might be a fun deal kinda like putting together a full size model kit!!!

About 1yr work so far, A 40yr old IMC kit that I basically re-engineered there are no kit parts that are not modified or replaced with scratchbuilt pieces. Note the front and rear suspension are bolted together and are made up od stainless tube and RB hiem joints and bolts.... Started out about 100 kit parts now over 700.... I scratchbuilt the entire Fuel Injection and cam covers have 48 .015 bolts on them. Almost done................Finished Novemeber 20 2009.. Appeared in SA Contest Annual and in Model Cars magazine .....

includes some of the Gerhardt Plymouth Clones run in 1969...

For 1989 March teamed with Corsa Alfa Romeo to build a Indy car that showed a lot of potential but with March on its last straw as an Indy constructor the car disapointed....

One last attempt to build a competitive car Guererro and Al Unser Sr. were signed to drive and developement was stepped up.. little did anyone know the Al Senior March 90ca would be the last of the long line of March Indy cars.. A beautiful paint job on the Unser car to boot!!!!!

With the sudden death of Al Holbert, the Porsche Indy project seemed doomed from the start. Walker Racing gave it all they could but the demise of March was the final nail in the project. Compare the Porsche with the Alfa based on the same tub... Interesting attempts at the same goal!!!!!

Research for the AMT-Heller double kit also inc some pics from long time friend PDL who worked at Heller on this kit..

I have wanted to build a different version of the popular Tyrrell P34 for years, so when I saw E.Jan was doing a limited run Transkit of the car I had to pick one up... This will be a super detail build and the W.I.P. will be on the Open Wheel Racing Modelers forum. I am also adding DFV engine detail parts from MFH/ E.Jan and Studio 27 and many more detail parts from various sources. The Version I am doing is the Tyrrell P34 1977 Japanese Grand Prix which looks completely diiferent from the stock Tamiya version..

I discovered these kits a while back, they are actually 1/38 UPC and 1/40 Nitto kits that are a bit like cereal box kits with a liitle more detail.. A great possible project and a lot of 1/43 detail parts fit better than the kit parts... more to come as I build them...Yep I said build them!!!
