In 1976 at the age of 18 Sterling stepped in for his injured father in the #14 Cunningham-Kelley Chevy Laguna for his very first Cup ride. Starting D.A.L. 30th at Nashville he finished 29th with a blown oil pump. There were absolutely no photos of the car but with some help I was able to piece together the make of the car and the overall scheme. Lagunas only ran for a couple years in Nascar before they banned because of their front end noses.
