Soviet/Eastern Bloc Mosin Nagants
Primarily firearms built around the sturdy and reliable Mosin-Nagant action, all of these rifles were used by the former Soviet Union or its satellite states.
albums: 17
U.S. Firearms
Good 'ol American ingenuity and craftsman ship here. Milsurps, moderns, and replicas. You definitely can't have too much of a good thing!
albums: 46
Mausers from around the world.
Mausers, Mausers, and more Mausers! All of the rifles shown in the albums within are based off the tried and true Mauser 98 action... with the exception of the Swede. But, hey, they're all awesome rifles!
albums: 21
Weapons from Finland
These are some of the finest milsurps ever made available to the public. Lots of history to be had here! These are my personal faves and represent the focus of my collecting efforts.
albums: 36
Semi-automatic milsurps and other non-U.S. designed rifles
This is pretty much a hodge-podge of semi-automatic rifles of non-U.S. origins.
albums: 21
British Weapons
The Lee-Enfield design has been around for quite some time -- there was a time when the sun never set upon the British Empire... and it was the Lee-Enfield series that led the way.
albums: 9
Non-Mauser/Mosin-Nagant rifles from around the world.
Just two in here for now: A Swiss K-31 and a Polish WZ-48. Both are great rifles. I almost put the Polish trainer in with the Eastern Bloc Mosins, but since it's not a Mosin (although it was made to look very similar), I opted to put it here instead.
albums: 7
Non-U.S. designed handguns
Here you'll find handguns designed outside of the U.S. Yes, the 92FS was used by the US military as the M9, but it's an Italian design, so it goes here.
albums: 14
Misc. firearms parts, goodies, etc.
Pretty self explanatory... this is a hodge podge of stuff that didn't fit super-easily into other albums.
albums: 6

Meat! And booze! And cigars!

Wings of Freedom Tour - 25th Anniversary
We made the trip to the Fargo Air Museum today to see a few of the Wings of Freedom warbirds that were in town for the Independence Day Holiday. We saw nice examples of a B-24J, B-17G, and a P-51B, along with some of the other aircraft normally on display at the museum. Check out http://www.collingsfoundation.org/menu.htm for more info on these planes!

2012 Ural M70 70th Anniversary Edition

From http://www.ural.cc/index.php?en_m70

"On 19th of November 1941 the first echelons with the manufacturing equipment pulled up to Irbit, a distant outpost on the eastern slopes of the Ural Mountains. Merely a month after the decision was made to evacuate the Moscow motorcycle plant from the capital. Ahead were long years of the Second World War. Relocated factory was to produce motorcycles for the Army to fight fascists. Thus the story of the Irbit Motorcycle Factory (IMZ) began.

The motorcycle was called M72. First units rolled off the production floor just a few months after the evacuation. Altogether approximately 9.500 motorcycles were built and in use throughout the war for mobile troops, reconnaissance detachments and to carry wounded.

It was women and children in the distant Siberian factory labouring relentlessly to supply the Front with the motorcycles that defeated the enemy. Like the people who built it, the motorcycles were rugged, resilient, undefeatable. Could have they imagined that 70 years later this factory would remain the only sidecar manufacturer in the world and Ural would become a cult motorcycle?

Since 1941 over 3 million motorcycles have been produced by the Irbit Motorcycles Factory.

On 19th of November 2011 we are celebrating the 70th anniversary of the IMZ-Ural factory and introduce Ural M70 Anniversary Edition.

We dedicate it to the first M72 built in Irbit. We keep the details as close to the original as possible. We meticulously picked the paint for this model and the material for the tonneau cover. MG mount is installed on the sidecar to keep true to the military roots of the models used in the war. Interestingly, the red round IMZ badge did not appear on motorcycles until 1956. We sourced the original IMZ badge and replicated it as close as possible but gave it a more refined finish.

While M70 keeps the aesthetics of the original M72, more importantly it brings to light the best kept secret of the Ural model line up – an extraordinary street sidecar motorcycle.
M70 comes equipped with 18” wheels, Marzocchi telescopic forks, Sachs shocks, four piston Brembo front disc brake. Plunger style frame, low clearance and low center of gravity make this model “grab” the road and handle like no other Ural. Not to mention the smoothest sidecar ride for the passenger!

M70 is available both as a solo and sidecar model.

The anniversary model Ural M70 will be available from November 2011 on, during year 2012 until the 19th of November 2012."

Columbus Day 2014

I took a couple of days off from work, one of which happened to be Columbus Day. The wifey and I went out for lunch and then realized this was turning out to be a gorgeous day. So we went home, grabbed the sidecar, and went for a little ride. One stop was along the Red River, where we took the time to snap a bunch of photos... and enjoy some smoky goodness. It's hard to beat the fall foliage. :)

Duluth and Split Rock Lighthouse, May 2017

These are a few highlights of our trip to Duluth earlier this week. We also made a day trip up the North Shore a bit to Split Rock Lighthouse and State Park. It was a bit overcast and blustery when we arrived in Duluth, but the weather the next two days was fantastic. We stayed at the South Pier Inn - the views were amazing and the location was perfect. Wifey and I had oodles of fun!

Full Auto Fun!

We had a blast today (3 Oct 2004). This was our first time shooting automatic weapons -- the wifey and I had the chance to shoot an H&R Reising Model 50 (I'm buying this one), a Lanchester 9mm subgun, an IMI (Israeli) Uzi, a Mini-Uzi, and a US-built MP-40. Definitely a great way to spend a day!

Gopher blastin'

Gophers are cute when they're at the zoo or in an empty lot on the edge of town. But when they're leaving a bunch a holes in a cattle pasture, they become nasty li'l buggers that need to be blasted. There are only three photos at the moment (taken during my trip to Bowbells, ND, over the 2004 Memorial Day weekend), but they're somewhat graphic so I'm locking this album so as to not offend any whiny-ass tree huggers that might be out there. The password for this album is "gopher" and you're more than welcome to check out the photos. But if you're entering this album on your own volition, don't come bitching to me later if you don't like what you see. You've been warned! :)

Leavenworth, WA - December 2009

During our trip home to Seattle for an early Christmas with family and friends this year, my beautiful wifey and I also made the ~3 hr drive up to Leavenworth, WA, to enjoy the lights, food, and shops for which Leavenworth is so famous. Schnitzel, anyone?

Red River Valley Motorcyclists show 2017

We entered our Indian Chief Vintage/ DMC Tomahawk SE sidecar rig in the Red River Valley Motorcyclists show this past weekend. Our bike did well! We took 2nd place in the trike/sidecar class and we were super stoked to win the Peoples Choice award! We had a lot of fun, made some new friends, met a lot of new people, talked a lot about bikes, and it was a great weekend for Indians at the RRVM show!

Red Wings vs. Wild 10/15/2011

Wifey and I drove to MSP to see the Wings play against the Wild on Saturday, 15 October 2011. Our seats? Section 118, Row 4, Seats 15 and 16. Wicked close to the action! The Wings completely outplayed the Wild, but still had to win in OT - had to come back from a 2-0 deficit to win the game 3-2. Yeah, that's right... 3 unanswered goals. Wings rock, Wild suck, end of story. WOOT!

The Elf goes BOOM!

Had a *fantastic* day of shooting. December 2nd, in North Dakota, and it was 40 degrees with hardly any wind. Probably the last good day of shooting until spring. Brought out the PWS MK116 Mod2 in 7.62x39, the SIG Sauer P226 MK25, YHM Phantom, and Surefire Ryder 9Ti (maiden voyage - it rocked the hut!), Mosin Nagant M91/30, and CZ-52 pistol. And I brought along three 1lb. Gryphon Energetics Thundershot binary explosive targets. Oh, and the Elf on the Shelf decided to make an appearance. And it's entirely possible the day ended rather poorly for the elf.

Woodland Park Zoo - Dec 2009

My beautiful wife and I went home to Seattle for an early Christmas this year. Naturally, we had to visit Woodland Park Zoo. It was ~25 degrees that day, so we pretty much had the place to ourselves... which is always a good thing. :)
