Okay... so technically this is a US-built rifle, so it could easily go in my section of US firearms. But since it's a British design and it was intended to be issued to the Crown's forces, it shall go in this section. So what? You wanna fight abowd it?
This 1943 Savage built No.4 MkI* is in pretty nice shape -- the only detractor is the non-marked (non-matching) bolt. But everything else on this rifle is properly marked and it wasn't uncommon for replacement bolts to be unmarked, so it's still "correct." The rifle carrys the famous "US PROPERTY" stamp to indicate this was not a British weapon (wink, wink, nudge, nudge). It was so marked due to the Lend-Lease Act; part of the politics of war, so it would seem. go in this section. So what? You wanna fight abowd it?

This is a minty unissued Fazakerley No.4 Mk2 -- this was one of the "mummy wrapped" examples that was imported a few years back. The S/N puts this rifle in the range of the "Irish Contract" rifles -- which was a plus since I hadn't noticed that when I purchased it. Sometimes it pays to jump on a purchase. :) which was a plus since I hadn't noticed that when I purchased it. Sometimes it pays to jump on a purchase. :) - photos: 18 (2 MB)
