This particular Eddystone M1917 was originally manufactured in May, 1918. The barrel is dated November, 1918. Since all the parts are Eddystone marked (including the stock) and the stock has the WW1-era eagle head acceptance stamp, I'm guessing this rifle was actually put together after the cessation of hostilities. As far as I can tell, this rifle is completely original... but who knows? :) WW1-era eagle head acceptance stamp, I'm guessing this rifle was actually put together after the cessation of hostilities. -
-
This is the same 1942 Springfield M1 Garand that's shown in the other album, only it's now been through a complete overhaul by Dean at Dean's Gun Restorations: new Wilson .30-06 barrel, all parts fully reparked, National Match trigger job, "Fancy" grade maple stock set with red stain, new springs, and a few other new parts that needed to be replaced. Yeah, it cost an arm and a leg, but I think it was well worth it... the results speak for themselves. fully reparked, National Match trigger job, "Fancy" grade maple stock set with red stain, new springs, and a few other new parts that needed to be replaced. | | Ptrthgr8 Productions | - 1942 Winchester M1 Garand
-
-
This WRA M1 Garand was recently acquired from the CMP. It's in the 1.2m S/N range (S/N indicates originally manufactured in July of 1942), is a typical CMP mixmaster (refurbed by Red River Army Depot post war and looks like mostly Springfield parts were used when refurbed), but is in what I'd consider to be 80-85% condition. Bore is near perfect on this SA (1951) barrel and I'm expecting it to be a great shooter. It's not the prettiest Garand in my collection, but it is the only Winchester. It's going to be with me for quite some time. :) post war and looks like mostly Springfield parts were used when refurbed), but is in what I'd consider to be 80-85% condition. -
-
This is an Inland M1 Carbine originally built in 1944. The barrel appears to be the original component, too, since it's dated 1/44. Overall this rifle is gorgeous... except for the fact that it blew up on me during the first trip to the range -- bolt is destroyed, receiver is damaged beyond repair, so now it's basically a pretty paperweight. Miss.t (Terri) at Treasure Hunt Arms was a complete douche and told me to bugger off when I asked if I could return it for replacement or credit. She was more than willing to take my $600 when I bought the damned thing, but decided to be of no help whatsoever when something went wrong after the sale. That's kick ass customer service for you, eh? God, I hate her... total friggin' douche. up on me during the first trip to the range -- bolt is destroyed, receiver is damaged beyond repair, so now it's basically a pretty paperweight. -

This CMP rifle is a Springfield Armory M1 Garand that was originally manufactured in March of 1944, then later issued to the Danish military following WW2. This rifle was rearsenaled by the Danes and was fitted with a VAR barrel (dated August 1960) in 1963. The Danish barrel has a TE of 1 and a MW of 1 -- it's nearly brand new! For $425 from the CMP, this rifle is definitely worth every penny. was fitted with a VAR barrel (dated August 1960) in 1963. The Danish barrel has a TE of 1 and a MW of 1 -- it's nearly brand new! | | Ptrthgr8 Productions | - 1944 SA M1 Garand
-
-
This is an M1 Garand manufactured by Springfield Armory. This rifle was a "service grade" example purchased from the CMP. According to the serial number, this rifle was manufactured in December, 1944. The barrel stamp also indicates a manufacture date of December, 1944. Finally, Col. George A. Woody, the inspector who left the "SA GAW" cartouche, was working at SA from July, 1943, through October, 1944, though there is a known overlap between the "SA GAW" and "SA NFR" stamps. It would certainly appear the the barrel and stock are the original pieces. That's a great find considering many of the CMP rifles are complete mixmasters. 1944. | | Ptrthgr8 Productions | - 1953 IHC M1 Garand
-
-
This M1 Garand was manufactured by the International Harvester Company somewhere around 1953. IHC was known for manufacturing trucks, tractors, and other farm equipment (collectors refer to these IHC-built Garands as "tractor guns" for that very reason). Following WW2 and right before the Korean War was in full swing, the US Government contracted IHC to build the M1 Garand. Because IHC's production was pretty much plagued with trouble from the onset (SA and H&R had to offer considerable help), it's very difficult to match up S/Ns and dates -- Springfield, Winchester, and Harrington & Richardson were much better about keeping their production records straight. I'm assuming this rifle was built in 1953 simply because the IHC designated S/N range began at 4400000 in 1953 (the S/N of this particular rifle is in the 4.5mil range, which would put it close to the front) and the LMR barrel (the vast majority of which were used for IHC rifle production) is stamped April, 1953. Yes, it's an assumption on my part, but until someone else can prove otherwise, I'm sticking to it. The barrel on this rifle looks brand new, the overall metal finish is around 80-85% (not incl. the barrel), and it's a typical post-war rebuild -- IHC receiver, mostly SA parts, nondescript (no stamps) birch stock with mismatched walnut handguards, but in otherwise great condition. This was acquired from the CMP and is a welcomed addition to the ol' collection. IHC-built Garands as "tractor guns" for that very reason). | | Ptrthgr8 Productions | - 1954 HRA M1 Garand
-
-
This M1 Garand was manufactured by the Harrington & Richardson Arms Co. of Worcester, Massachusetts, in 1953 or 1954 (per the S/N range). Post-WW2 production records aren't quite as extensive as those from WW2, so it's a little harder to accurately determine the exact date of production. However, the barrel is dated March 1954 and is also made by the H&R Arms Co, so it's very likely this is the original barrel. HRA Garands are generally the most well-made Garands, from a machining perspective, since the Harrington & Richardson Arms Co. had been in the business of making rather nice sporting firearms for the civilian market long before they ever received the government contract to make M1 Garands during the Korean War. This is definitely a nice rifle. :) those from WW2, so it's a little harder to accurately determine the exact date of production. This is an M14 built by Dean at DGR. I sent Dean the HRA parts kit, birch stock from Fred's, and the warrifles.com Fulton receiver. Dean added a Barnett/Douglas medium weight barrel, reparked all the metal, finished the birch stock with his Type 2 finish (more of an unissued military look to it), gave the trigger group a NM job, put everything together and sent it back to me. It took about 6 months for the work to be done, but it was well worth the wait. :) the metal, finished the birch stock with his Type 2 finish (more of an unissued military look to it), gave the trigger group a NM job, put everything together and sent it back to me. This handy little .410 shotty was actually made by the Savage-Stevens company. It was common back in first part of the 20th Century for store brands (Sears, Eastern Arms, etc.) to have other manufactures stamp the store name on actual production models. David Moore at Spider Firearms makes one of the more highly regarded .50 BMG uppers for the AR-15 platform - folks can win 1000 yard FCSA matches with these babies! The single shot bolt action Ferret50 in this album has the 29" stainless steel barrel, Dave's custom-made match hammer and trigger set (lighter and crisper than the Rock River Arms 2-stage NM trigger - if you can believe it!), a Rock River Arms lower, 3lb. weight in the stock cavity, Badger Max-50 rings (high), and a Bushnell Elite 4200 6-24x50mm scope. This is a new-production civilian version of the famed M14 service rifle. This particular M1A is one of Springfield's "loaded" versions -- NM stainless barrel, NM front sites, NM trigger job, etc. I replaced the original plastic/fiberglass handguard with a walnut version from Fulton Armory. (Sadly, the rear edge of the handguard cracked while attempting to install the handguard clip. Lesson learned the hard way.) I completely refinished the stock (that original Springfield stain job was pretty poor) and hanguard with several liberal coats of Behr's #600 tung oil finish. This is definitely a great looking rifle! I recently added a Harris bipod, ARMS 18 scope mount, Burris rings, and a BSA 6-24x50mm target scope. The use of this scope won't permit the use of the walnut handguard, so I'm currently using the fiberglass guard from Fulton Armory. This rifle is defintely going to ruin many a gopher's day. :) Caliber 7.62x51 NATO. replaced the original plastic/fiberglass handguard with a walnut version from Fulton Armory.
