My Dad drove there, too. He was #30 from Elmhurst, IL. My Mom says to this day, that he went backwards more than forward. I will contact them for pix- I know Gram took a lot! I was only little-now 56-but I really had fun at that place. Sycamore just doesn't do it for me!

.I lived about a mile from the track, every Friday and Saturday nite we  could hear the racing.  we lived on Scott st.in Schiller Park, east of the track.i was maybe 5 or 6 years old when I went to o'hare stadium. that is when I first heard of Fred Lorenzen. my dads friends Pete Olsen Sr. and Richard Hansen also raced there as my dad raced at Soldier Field earlier. I got to see Fred Lorenzen a lot in the mid 70s, as he would launch his yellow flat bottom race boat at the same marina in Fox Lake, Bauske's  Boat Basin as my dad kept our boat. Richard Hansen and his wife Birdie were good friends with Fred. it was very cool coming across this info on the internet....brings back many good memories of good people

I remember may dad taking us to the races there. My fav was the figure eight where the guy would push the other into the intersection and get smashed. Not too long ago I found a checker flag still on the wooden stick. Great memories.

I remember when I was around 10 years old my dad taking me there to watch the late model convertible division. Fred Lorenzen, Gene Marmon & his flying # 5. Great times, sad to see it all gone. To me it was like the Wriggly Field of stock car racing.

I was there for the last summer of racing in 1968. I have one photo of the guys I hung around at the track with their car, I'll try to get it posted. Ironically, 40 years later I am training my dogs in a building that is right where the track was. Every time I'm there I think about the good times we had back then. Would love to get my 69 Nova (427) running and take for a spin around a track. Unfortunately, with an arthritic knee can't work the clutch anymore.

I was saddened to read today about O'hare Speedway closing so long ago. I have fond memories from when I used to go to the races there when I was stationed at Ft Sheridan, Il. in the summer of  67. They had better programs of racing than we have in Lawton and Muskogee, Oklahoma these days. But all racing is good. Bring that Nova down here to Muskogee in late March or early April for playdays, I have 3 sons who will spin it around for you. Or help U put a power glide with torque tube in it. That's what my car uses behind a 383 s.b. Chevy.
