Buddy Baker was also at Grundy that night scheduled to drive Tracy Schulers car. He got it in and didn't quite fit. Tracy went out and broke the track record that night. Hoss Ellington leaned in the car and told Tracy "I bet Buddy wished he would have squeezed in it now!"
I remember watching Noreen race in Birmingham when I was little. I remember asking my Dad if she was married to Rick! My logic as a 7 year old was that she raced cars and her last name was Mears, She must be related! Those were the days.

I remember when Frank had 2 cars, an orange one, and the yellow one. He showed up at Illiana with the orange one, with no weight in it, and hot lapped it at 17 something! Before they could say anything to him, he loaded it up & left. He showed back up with the yellow one, qualified it, ran and won everything that night! Those were the days...

I remember seeing that car at Grundy, and commenting to my dad, "That is the best-looking race car I've ever seen." A woman sitting in front of us said, "Thank You. My son painted it." Don't know who she was, or who her son was, but it was a great-looking car.

Davey built this car himself(with the help of Bobby and Red Farmer) and raced it at Huntsville,BIR and Montgomery, Speedways. I saw him race and tear this car up often, he was just learning. At the time never thought he had the talent to make it driving.
