wow! looking at all these pictures, the memories just flow in my head of all the good time at raceway park with my father ted. him and i lived at the place. he knew a lot of drivers and the mechanics, so we were always in the pits after the races.wish they never would of torn it down. still sad when i pass the area and it is no longer there but i can still visualize it so clear in my head. i'd swear we'd be the first ones there. my dad had to sit in the same place every time we went.just under the announcer box, so many good times.
I remember sneaking into the pits, then into the grandstands when I was about 15. I could hear the races at night from my house at 128th and Sangamon. Those were great times !!!

Awesome sign. Should have put it a LITTLE higher in the air so a tall Truck couldn't knock it down. Oops!

I seem to remember a picture of this sign in the Tribune or Sun Times many years back, after Cornwall won the championship.
I lettered this sign off the top of my truck, the same truck I would tow my race car to the track.I used Bill Cornwall's car as a model for the sign. He had won the championship the year before. I'm not sure of that year, does someone remember? This is my 53rd year painting signs & 20 of them where racing stock cars. James Bond #007
