wow! looking at all these pictures, the memories just flow in my head of all the good time at raceway park with my father ted. him and i lived at the place. he knew a lot of drivers and the mechanics, so we were always in the pits after the races.wish they never would of torn it down. still sad when i pass the area and it is no longer there but i can still visualize it so clear in my head. i'd swear we'd be the first ones there. my dad had to sit in the same place every time we went.just under the announcer box, so many good times.

I was in both places in the early 80,s. The upstairs went from this stairwell to the east bar. Some of us that worked there found a bar and office some go carts that looked like slver crown cars.It looked like nobody had been upthere for awhile.By the time Putsy took us down under the big steel door ther was a room with one wall blocked off. It looked like it would lead towards old wasaw.
I remember sneaking into the pits, then into the grandstands when I was about 15. I could hear the races at night from my house at 128th and Sangamon. Those were great times !!!

It was Stash Kullman in the 4U car. Wanna say 1960. It was the greatest accident I ever saw. He might have been the only one to fly out of the track, but there have been others who have come close.
I remember being there in the late 50's or early 60's when a car went over th fence between turn 1 and 2 and hit 2 cars in the parking lot. I think that was the only time that ever happened . I don't remember who the driver was. Doe's anyone out there know who it was and what year?

I'm sick of mini-malls and condos and housing and superstores. Can we please have a Chicagoland short track? Isn't there someone out there who can pull it off? Just a little 1/4 mile asphault will do so we can have some jollies. Thanks Pete Jenin for helping us keep our little racetrack. NOT!
RACEWAY PARK HAD THE BEST FRIES ON THE PLANET IM GOING TO MISS THIS PLACE BOTH AS A SPECTATOR AND AS A MEMBER OF A RACE TEAM. THE MEMORIES WILL FOREVER BE IN MY HEART. THANK YOU
