Bud was my favorite driver back in the day. I used to go to the track with my old man Ron W. Swanson who raced in the Golden Knights division with Ted Kirkhoven and I always rooted for #77 and hated to see the evil Ray Young take one from him. I raced one season back in 1982 and drove a white 68 Chevelle to victory in the opening day feature race, beating Craig Johnson who spun out in the final laps. Sorry Raceway is gone, but the memories are forever!

Evil Ray Young, #99!!!! No Way. LOL.. I loved to watch Bud and Ray fight it out on the track. Always Gentlemen. I was 2 weeks old in 1958 when Mom and Dad took me to Raceway Track for the first time. They always rooted for Bud and I for Ray Young, Jerry Kemperman. I couldn't cheer for the same team as My Parents! Those were the best days of my life, Coming home with Fence-dirt on our noses from hanging on the pit fence. Thanks for putting this site up. My Parents would of loved this....

Ray Young was'nt in Bud Koehlers league. I guess the only two drivers that were close, was Bob  Pronger and Bill Van Allen.

Haha I was right there with you. First it was the evil Bob Pronger, then it was the evil Ray Young and finally the evil Ray Freeman. Larry Middleton came to light in the end as well. It was all in fun though. I think I probably had high blood pressure after a few of those features. THOSE WERE THE DAYS
