Looks like the crowd I raced with in 1951 as the Rapid Car Wash special # 137. I lived in Evergreen Park and that was the number of our one and only police car. My car was a 1941 Nash made to look like a 1948 as Bill Van Allen used and one night his car blew up so he borrowed mine and was moving through the pack until he got a flat tire; he put his own wheels and tires on my car before he climbed in.
Don Schultz was a friend of mine during the 1960's My cousin and I stopped at the dair Queen on Ridge Road and later on my wedding day in 1972,the entire wedding party stopped in and got a dairy queen Don was a good starter at Illiana and I still miss him. If anyone remembers Gentle Ben from Illiana youve got too much free time on your hands
Grandfather Don Shultz raced at Raceway and Savage in 40s' and 50s'. Was #86 mostly I believe. He worked for Harry at The Shop and Track(Illiana) for years. Lost photos in a flood in 70s'. Anyone remember him? Any Photos? Have 1 photo.
