So Chewie is not a chewer but a digger ... he looks like a great guy to me. I would love to know more about him and his story but since I hate, avoid, boycott and block facebook almost obsessively and declared it to a no-go-area Chewie and I would have to convince you to give some more information in this album ;).

I am more than glad to see that you don't cease to give love and care to wonderful creatures like him ... you make this world a better place!

Like all coyotes, Chewie is a born digger.  They depend on that skill in the wild to dig themselves safe cozy burrows to live in.

Chewie  was an orphan pup.  His mother might have been hit by a car or come to grief some other way.  The people that originally found him kept him for too long and treated him like the cute little furry thing he was at the time.  By the time we got him he was hopelessly accustomed to people.  That makes it much too dangerous to release him back into the wild.  In fact, he has gotten very aggressive and only a few of us can still safely go into his enclosure with him.  He will live out his life with us and receive the best care we can give him.

BTW, he is also a born chewier. We give him stuffed animals and other dog toys for enrichment from time to time.  When I go into his enclosure the morning after one of these gifts, the entire area is covered in stuffing and only the flat outer covering of the toy remains.  Chewie just loves these things.

Thanks for the info, Ray. I hope you never run out of toy's for him, good toy's that are a challenge for him ... and that he doesn't swallow too much of them, and IF you run out, an old kitchen towel does a fantastic job if you put a treat in it, then roll up in the length and then triple knot it it as tight as you can (step on one end and pull on the other), the knots in each other .... takes care for quiet some entertainment :D
