After 31 years on the water as a conservation officer I saw my first hellion today. Looked like it just came out of the showroom. Talked to owner about it and he was really proud of it. Had an 18 Mercury. Sure would like to have one but with four boats already don't think my wife would buy how nice it would be to have one.

We used to have one of these when we first got married back in the 70's. We had a lot of fun with it. It had it's own little trailer and a 9.9 Mercury on the back. It had a little problem with the electrical. You could not touch the key and another piece of metal without getting a shock.

I would like to see other pictures of these.

Dan, A boat shop can help you out. It is easy to use a throttle/shift box cable set up. If you want to leave an email, I would be happy to help you too. Good luck with your boat!!

Can anyone send me pictures of the controls set up for a hellion? Does anyone know what size of motor is best? Can a 9.9 be hooked up with a throttle/shift control. So many questions, just got my hellion this week. Thanks

I am definitely interested in the new ones as well. Is there a website or any other info that you can post???

There is one right now on ebay that might end up being a good buy. I was able to buy mine with the engine for $400 but it seems the more interest there is, the higher the price will go!!

thanks for the idea about indiana auto rv. I placed a wanted add and had about 6 calls. There are a pair of them in Mansfield Ohio with a trailer, 15 hp motors for $2400. I got a call last week from a guy who saw the ad and called to tell me that he actually made a mold and is manufacturing them new. Coastguard approved and has made the transom so it will actually hold the motor. Also uses teleflex cables for steering. I stopped to look at it today and he has done a great job! Better fibreglass and great gelcoat. Wrote a check before I left. It was more than I wanted to spend, but it is awesome!

Hello there !! I have one that I am going to get in the water this summer. It was my "Little Boat" when I was growing up. I am from Anderson, Indiana and when I was growing up we would go to Lake Wawasee most of the summer. They are really a fun boat. Mine is yellow and has a 1957 Sea King 12.5 hp and will run about 25-30 mph. My dad traded a 14 ft glaspar for it back in the early 70's. Don't know if the motor will still run but I would like to put a 15 or 20 hp on it now. I have a 25' Sea Ray cruiser that I keep down at Lake Cumberland and I think that it would be fun to take the hellion down there too.

I've been looking for one of these for years. Anybody know of any for sale? In years of searching the net, this is the 1st hit I've had for Wooster Hellion. My neighbors had one when I was a kid which I drove a lot...a blast for kids, as long as you dont mind getting wet. Would love to find one.

I am in Lafayette. If you are serious about buying a boat, use one of my pics and place an ad in Indiana Auto RV magazine (www.auto-rv.com). The ad will bring you 8 or 10 potential candidates for around $300-$1200 with or without the engine. There seem to be a lot of these boats tucked in barns around this area. Good luck!

thanks for the reply..I grew up on lake maxikuckee and still spend time there. I agree that a 15 hp would be a lot better, but indiana law only allows a 9.9 hp under 16. If you come across another, drop me an email ski2doo@aol.com

I live in Indy, where are you from?

These boats were only built for a few years around 1969-70. They were made by Rubbermaid in Wooster Ohio. I understand a fire took the plant out... You could buy them at boating/hardware/sporting good stores. You could rent them to tool around the lake at Disney World. 9.9 was the max sugg engine, but a 15 or 18 is a better size for two adults in the boat. 9.9 works fine for 1 person.

A similiar little boat is the Mercury Water Mouse. If you want a small boat like this, try like I did and place a want ad with a pic in your local auto/rv/boat trader. Found this one with a 18hp (!) engine for $400 in MI. By the way, I am in Indiana also!

I grew up in Indiana and had friends that owned them on the lake. I was always jealous, but couldn't get the parents to go for it. I'd love to get one of these for my kids...Man that was a fun little machine..They had 9.9's and moved!

My family had a Hellion we bought new in 1970. We used it on Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire. A friend was in the boat business and sold about a dozen of them to a group of friends. I know someone here that has 3 of them, all restored. Great in smooth water, but this lake is BIG! Rob
